Job Summary

Kimes Nursing and Rehab is seeking a professional and experienced HR/Payroll Generalist, or Director of POPS (People, Engagement, and Operations), to support facility operations within a skilled nursing facility environment. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to facility leadership while overseeing employee relations, recruitment efforts, onboarding, payroll coordination, compliance initiatives, staffing, and workforce engagement. The ideal candidate must have experience, can efficiently multi-task, is proficiently organized, approachable, detail-oriented, personable, highly relational, and capable of balancing operational priorities. This position plays a critical role in supporting staffing stability, maintaining a high employee morale, strengthening employee retention, maintaining compliance standards, and fostering a positive workplace culture that directly impacts resident care outcomes and overall facility success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support day-to-day human resources operations within the facility
  • Partner with leadership to promote a professional, compliant, and positive workplace culture
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts including job postings, interviewing, onboarding, and orientation processes
  • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives to improve workforce stability and decrease staff turnover
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all employee matters
  • Assist with payroll oversight, timekeeping accuracy, and workforce reporting
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and healthcare regulations
  • Manage personnel records, onboarding documentation, and HR compliance tracking
  • Provide guidance and support related to employee relations, coaching, and performance concerns
  • Assist leadership with workforce planning and staffing support to help achieve zero-agency utilization goals
  • Participate in survey preparation efforts and workforce compliance readiness
  • Promote a culture centered on accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and resident-focused care
  • Assisting with staff education 

Requirements

  • Previous HR experience required; healthcare or skilled nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of payroll processes, onboarding procedures, and employment compliance practices
  • Strong communication, organizational, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems preferred (ex Paycom)
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Strong leadership presence with a collaborative and service-oriented approach
  • Professional, approachable, highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Confident managing sensitive employee matters
  • Passionate about employee engagement and workplace culture and able to build strong relationships with leadership and staff
  • Committed to operational excellence and workforce stability
  • Oversight of Staffing Platform (Valid Shifts)
