Position Overview 

The position is part of the Sales Operations department reporting to the VP of Client Sales and Operations. This position is focused on leading a team of operations management and staff, monitoring day-to-day operations and departmental strategy as well as continuous improvement initiatives. 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Monitor and report key performance indicators pertaining to your team including financial performance of accounts, productivity and operational components 

  • Review weekly statistics in key performance areas and implement actions necessary to meet management expectations 

  • Devise and implement tailored solutions to increase efficiency, add value, and maximize profitability throughout customers’ supply chains. 

  • Generate innovative ideas to remove operational obstacles and increase team efficiency. 

  • Conduct regular Account Reviews in partnership with Client Sales to ensure goals are being met 

  • Manage the execution of large departmental projects and transitions 

  • Develop and execute department quality assurance initiatives and process verification 

  • Partner with HR and Recruiting for requisition management and onboarding of new team members 

  • Hold regular developmental conversations and goal meetings to provide direct reports with relevant feedback to help them succeed 

  • Oversee the onboarding and training curriculum for department 

  • Own the transition of any structural changes that are made to Client Ops

  • Work with training to create continuous training for upskilling and career development

  • Responsible for implementing tech adoption to anyone involved in operational functions (this includes brokers/sales reps that are doing operations tasks).

  • Responsible for KPIs related to efficiencies (loads per HC, Operations Cost per Load)

Requirements 

  • 7+ years of Transportation Industry experience 

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong interdepartmental partnerships 

  • Experience in managing teams working cross-functionally within an organization 

  • Experience meeting with clients at multiple levels and building strong relationships 

  • Confidence to make tough decisions when necessary 

  • Industry Knowledge – Considered an expert in the field’s concepts, practices and procedures. Highly sought out for advice/guidance. 

  • Customer Satisfaction – Excellent customer interaction. Anticipates customer needs.  Proven ability to become trusted advisor of your clients.  Designs and manages to customer service metrics.  Proven ability to develop these skills in others. 

  • Leadership - You lead by example and have experience empowering a team to execute under pressure and tight deadlines. 

  • Complexity – Performs a variety of complicated tasks as an independent contributor, through subordinates as a manager and through peer/cross-function teams and associations. Develops and recommends innovative ideas for business improvement.

Work environment/physical demands summary:

This job operates in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office with an open seating floor plan. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.
