Summary Generated by Built In
Stand Together is a philanthropic community that helps America’s boldest changemakers tackle the root causes of our country’s biggest problems, from education to the economy, broken communities, and toxic division, among dozens of other pressing issues. We provide our partners with access to resources including funding, thought leadership, a network of peers, and a playbook for applying proven principles to transform lives and society.

About Radius

Radius is a place-based community transformation initiative built on a simple conviction: poverty is not a lack of programs, it's the presence of conditions that hold people back — and communities themselves, not outside institutions, are the ones who transform those conditions. Radius works alongside local leaders across our markets — Grand Rapids/West Michigan, Wichita, Oklahoma City, and Dallas — organized around the Seven Human Essentials: economic opportunity, transportation, education, safe and affordable housing, non-predatory financial tools, health and wellness, and relationships.

We don't parachute in with answers. We invest in the people closest to the problem and build the frameworks, standards, and rhythms that let their work compound across markets.

The Role

Radius is entering an exciting stage of growth, with a proven strategy, strong partnerships, and a track record of success across markets. As Director of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter of the organization by helping translate that success into a scalable, enduring operating model.

Working side-by-side with the Managing Director, you will help build the systems, rhythms, and standards that enable Radius to expand its reach and effectiveness. This is a unique opportunity to gain deep exposure to every aspect of the initiative, from market development and partnership strategy to execution in the field, while creating the operational foundation that supports long-term growth.

You will not manage from a distance. You will be in the work, in the markets, beside the Managing Director — and over time, you will hold more of the operating model yourself.

How You Will Contribute

    Own the Operating System

    • Project and program management across the initiative

    • Lead ongoing prioritization across workstreams.

    • Develop and maintain knowledge management systems across the Radius Initiatives

    • Drive a product team operating rhythm

    Strategy Organization

    • Run the operational side of Radius strategy; providing the systems and checkpoints to ensure the investments team partners on strategy through its frameworks mandate

    • Operationalize market strategy alignment by administering standards and running the market cadence that keeps four markets aligned to one strategy

    • Lead internal strategy coordination for other Stand Together initiatives aligned to Radius goals

    Portfolio and Product Operations

    •  Own relay operations — tracking market-based solutions through their stages across markets — ensuring local experimentation stays local

    • Steward the shared protocols for partnership— common signals, measures, and portability standards that travel across markets while implementations stay local

    Cross-Functional Coordination

    • Run coordination for external communications, including presentation preparation

    • Ensure a high degree of execution across the executive support function

    • Track funder commitments as an input to development and portfolio planning

    • Interface with the Stand Together Foundation Investments team to deliver market-side operational data.

What You Will Bring

    • 8+ years of operations leadership experience, including a strong track record of designing, improving, and scaling operational systems across multiple sites, markets, or regions.

    • Exceptional systems-thinking skills with the ability to build structures, processes, and operating rhythms that increase effectiveness without creating unnecessary complexity. You know how to create clarity, accountability, and consistency while keeping teams agile and mission-focused.

    • A builder's mindset paired with a learner's curiosity. You are energized by understanding how successful work happens in practice, translating it into repeatable systems, and continuously improving it over time.

    • Strong alignment with community-centered approaches to change. You believe lasting progress is driven by local leaders and community members, and you can balance operational excellence with deep respect for local context, relationships, and decision-making.

    • Experience working in collaborative, matrixed environments, with the ability to build trust, navigate multiple stakeholder relationships, and drive alignment across teams and leaders.

    • Highly adaptable and hands-on, with a willingness to spend significant time in the field learning, building relationships, and supporting execution alongside partners and internal leaders.

    • Excellent communication, project management, and execution skills, with the ability to move seamlessly between strategy and implementation in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

    • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to Radius markets (Grand Rapids, Wichita, Oklahoma City, Dallas) and to spend meaningful time working alongside the Managing Director in the field.

    • Enthusiasm to contribute to Stand Together's vision and principled approach to solving problems, and a commitment to stewarding our culture, which champions values including transformation and innovation, entrepreneurialism, humility, and respect.
