Summary of the position:

The Director of Original Equipment Manufacturer - North America is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, training, and managing all sales and marketing functions to meet and exceed corporate objectives for sales, growth, expense management and profitability while ensuring a consistent marketing message and a position consistent with the corporate direction.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Devise a successful strategy and sales plan; personally execute the plan and all associated tactical and strategic actions for expanding the company’s customer base.
  • All phases of the sales process, including prospecting, prospect qualification, setting effective meetings and engaging new clients.
  • Select and actively participate in associations, network opportunities, tradeshows, and conferences to effectively gain new business.
  • Work closely with the channel organization to provide sales training and product application training.
  • Relationship management at all levels with the partner/channel and distributor organization.
  • Full awareness of the competition’s marketing efforts at all times as well as the needs of our target market.
  • Proactively directs overall business strategy for the OEM business unit that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones for a one-, three- and five-year period.
  • Identify and coordinate a successful strategy and sales plan; personally execute the plan and all associated tactical and strategic actions for expanding the company’s customer base.
  • Select and actively participate in associations, network opportunities, tradeshows, and conferences to effectively gain new business.
  • Relationship management at all levels, both internally within Hitachi Global Air Power/Sullair, as well as externally with customer accounts, strategic partners, and other key influencers.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Marketing or Business Administration; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of successful and progressive experience in sales and managed markets required.
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing product environment required.
  • 4+ years of management experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience with systemic (scorecard) management systems.
  • 5+ years of experience with developing and changing distribution partners required.
  • 5+ years of experience with negotiating on behalf of the company required.
  • Experience with budgets, marketing analytics and personnel management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the discipline necessary to maintain a strong pipeline of prospects.

Professional experience:

  • Extensive experience developing distribution partners, changing (firing) distribution partners, and negotiating on behalf of the company.
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and developing a team of sales account managers, business development managers, marketing, customer service and training managers with a successful record in sales performance.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and the ability to both deliver effective management/ executive level presentations and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated with goal-oriented attitude.
  • Clearly demonstrated ability to lead, facilitate, organize, and motivate multiple teams toward identified goals
  • Desire to continuously seek improvement in existing process.
  • The business acumen necessary to qualify and prioritize prospects based on revenue potential and other key variables.
