POSITION SUMMARY:
- The essential functions of the job for the Director of Nursing, requires, and may be amended from time to time at the sole discretion of Viva Senior Living to include, but are not limited to the following:
- Comply with standards of business conduct in accordance with federal, state and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines, as applicable.
- Must possess a valid RN license issued by the State
- Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED
- Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment, and above all, maintain the utmost compassion and dignity to the residents and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights.
- In exigent circumstances, the employee may be subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, temporary staffing shortages, etc.).
- Must adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and follow the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must maintain the highest standards in caring and servicing the needs of the residents and residents' family members and loves ones.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
- The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Nursing Department.
- Responsible for the professional development?of the Assistant Director of Nursing and clinical staff in their ability to develop high-performance teams centered around exceptional customer service, care delivery, and teamwork.?
- Ensures proper staffing levels, regulatory compliance, Viva’s Standard compliance, and on-going improvement?to execute the company mission and vision.??
- Creates?and maintains monthly department schedule
- Provide leadership development to Assistant Director of Nursing and clinical staff
- Ensures departmental quality assurance?with applicable regulations, Viva’s standards, and business performance
- Oversees?budget
- Ordering supplies for Nursing Department
- Work with the Business Office Manager to complete interview process for prospective employees
- Meet with new nursing team members to review training and onboarding schedule
- Schedule training for new employees
- Check in with new hires regularly to ensure orientation process is satisfactory
- Work with the Business Office Manager to ensure Relias requirements and job specific orientation checklist has been completed
- Maintains on-call schedule and rotation
- Maintains scheduled assignment of AL/KSV staff in ALIS?with the assistance of the Assistant Wellness Director
- Oversees the?management of?staff?attendance?and performance management
- Oversees Wellness Coach and schedule of residents
- Maintains meeting schedules:??
- Primary: Stand up, resident rounds, transition/therapy,?staffing,?QA?(if state required)?
- Oversight:?Shift report, KSV Huddle?
- Conduct quarterly Clinical Section of the Ops Audit for QA – and reviews to?implement action plans/interventions and reviews with Executive Director separately
- Reviews internal incident reports and post falls to prepare regulatory incident report for ED approval and then submission to state or governing body?as necessary per regulations
- Prepare new admission charts and readmission packets
- Maintain medical records including dismantle discharged resident charts, in conjunction with the Business Office Manager
- Provide oversight and guidance for chart audits
- File overflow medical records in active or discharged resident’s records.
- Follow up on any internal investigations of theft, abuse, medication errors, falls etc.,?and collaborates with Executive Director on next steps and interventions
- Maintains incidental billing of services to residents
- Reviews monthly rent roll to assure proper billing of resident care?to assure budgetary income for community
- Schedules monthly department meetings with well-planned out agendas and trainings for departmental needs
- Any medical pieces for LTC Insurance Paperwork?
- Oversees High Risk residents with potential for move-out due to customer service concerns and care concerns
- Assist with nursing care on the floor, as needed
- Uphold the foundation of care models and philosophy of Viva to include but not limited to Live More, Care Connect, Mosher Gardens Method, Think More and No Fall Zone
- Mentor, discipline, hire, terminate Wellness Staff
- Share On-Call phone every other week with Case Manager
- Share Manager on Duty rotation with Leadership Team
- In the absence of Wellness staff, be prepared to count in the minimum staffing levels/work the shift
- In conjunction with the Case Manager, maintain an adequate staffing schedule and enter into the payroll database.
- Act as Manager on Duty via rotation with other managers
- Participate in RCA/Med Tech hiring process, disciplinary actions, terminations, supervision and training of Wellness staff
- Oversee Case Manager
- Perform other duties as required per state regulations
- Must adhere to scheduled shifts assigned by Executive Director or Supervisor.
Requirements
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, agitated residents
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Skills Required
- Valid RN license issued by the state
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to five feet and carry 50 feet
- Must meet general health requirements including medical and physical examination
- Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position

- Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes agitated residents
- Willingness to be subject to callback during emergencies and adhere to scheduled shifts and attendance policies
