Spring Oak Senior Living is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as the Director of nursing for one of our assisted living communities. An active RN license is required for this position.
This is a hands-on clinical leadership role for an RN who is passionate about resident care, team development, regulatory compliance, and creating a warm, supportive environment for seniors. The Director of Nursing reports to the Executive Director and works closely with regional and corporate clinical leadership.

Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for resident care and wellness services
- Lead, support, coach, and develop the wellness team, including LPNs, Med Techs, and Caregivers, while maintaining clear expectations and accountability
- Maintain an active presence on the floor and provide hands-on support to staff as needed
- Oversee resident assessments, service plans, care plans, and changes in condition
- Ensure resident care is delivered in accordance with state regulations, company policies, and best practices
- Oversee medication management, medication administration, MARs, EMAR, pharmacy communication, and medication compliance
- Communicate regularly with residents, families, physicians, pharmacies, hospitals, and outside providers
- Follow up promptly on resident clinical concerns, incidents, changes in condition, and family concerns
- Review physician orders, pharmacy reports, dietician reports, incident reports, and resident documentation
- Coordinate admissions, re-admissions, hospital returns, and resident transitions of care
- Partner with the Executive Director and leadership team to ensure the community can safely meet resident care needs
- Conduct staff training, clinical education, in-services, and ongoing coaching
- Support infection control, quality assurance, survey readiness, and regulatory compliance
- Monitor documentation to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness
- Participate in investigations, including incidents, falls, allegations of abuse or neglect, infectious disease concerns, and other reportable events
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, evaluations, corrective action, and development of wellness team members
- Maintain strong relationships with residents and families through clear communication and compassionate leadership
- Participate in clinical on-call coverage and ensure appropriate support is available for urgent resident care needs
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
- Must have supervisory or nursing leadership experience.
- Assisted living, senior living, long-term care, skilled nursing, or memory care experience preferred
- Strong understanding of resident assessments, care plans, medication management, documentation, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with EMAR, electronic health records, or computerized clinical systems
- Excellent communication skills with residents, families, physicians, staff, and outside providers
- Ability to lead a team with professionalism, accountability, compassion, and confidence
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively to resident care concerns, emergencies, and changing priorities

Skills Required
- Valid RN license in the state of employment
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience
- Supervisory experience in an assisted living environment
- Thorough understanding of nursing and medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines for residential and assisted living
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Ability to interact tactfully with residents, families, regulatory agencies, and staff
- Patience, tact, cheerful demeanor, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle challenging situations
- Strong planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and interpreting program goals, policies, and procedures
- Proficiency with computerized systems such as EMAR
- Availability for on-call clinical/care responsibilities (24/7 unless alternate coverage arranged)
