Director of Nursing (RN) | Roanoke, VA
Salary: $108,000-$114,000 | Full-Time | Day Shift
MEDIKO is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead nursing operations at the Roanoke City Jail. This role is responsible for overseeing clinical services, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing nursing staff, and promoting high-quality patient care in a correctional healthcare setting.
Qualifications
- Active RN unrestricted license in good standing
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field
- 5+ years of healthcare leadership experience
- Experience with staff management, scheduling, budgeting, and quality improvement
- Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance and patient safety standards
- CPR/BLS certification required
Preferred
- Master's degree
- Director-level nursing leadership experience
- Correctional healthcare experience
- Knowledge of NCCHC and ACA standards

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or related field
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related discipline
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in the healthcare industry
- 3-5 years in a leadership or director-level role
- Experience managing healthcare operations in a correctional healthcare or similarly regulated environment
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and standards relevant to correctional healthcare (NCCHC, ACA, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project management, and leading cross-functional teams
- Proven track record of driving operational efficiencies, improving patient care, and managing budgets
- Certifications in Healthcare Management or Correctional Healthcare (e.g., FACHE, CPHQ, CHC, NCCHC)
- Valid state licensure or certification in a healthcare-related field (if applicable)
- Active CPR/BLS certificate (AHA or Red Cross)
