The Role

The Role
This is not a standard sales role. ThoughtSpot is launching a new agentic product line - adjacent to our core Agentic Analytics platform - and we are hiring our very first, founding seller for this business. This role was initiated directly by our CEO and will report into the Head  of Global Strategy.  The role is designed and intended to grow: the person who lands it will ideally build, lead, and scale the GTM team for this line of business over time.

You will define what “good” looks like here. You will create the playbook, not follow one. You will sell alongside our CEO and SVP of Strategy and Operations, with full access to executive relationships. What You’ll Do:

  • Own the full sales cycle for a net-new product line - from identifying the right ICP through to close

  • Develop the foundational GTM playbook: messaging, discovery methodology, competitive positioning, and deal strategy

  • Engage directly with C-level and VP-level buyers at enterprise accounts, translating agentic AI capabilities into measurable business outcomes

  • Run effective discovery and demos - frequently without an SE present - because you understand the product deeply enough to lead the technical narrative

  • Collaborate closely with product, marketing, and the CEO to shape go-to-market based on what you’re learning in the field

  • Lay the groundwork to hire and lead a team as this product line scales

What You Bring:

Must-haves

  • Deep, genuine fluency in agentic AI - you can speak credibly about workflows, orchestration, and automation with technical buyers and business stakeholders alike

  • A proven track record selling enterprise software, with experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder deals

  • Outcome-oriented sales approach - you sell business impact (cost reduction, headcount efficiency, process acceleration), not features and functions

  • Builder mentality - you have created sales processes, messaging frameworks, or playbooks from scratch, not just executed on existing ones

  • High tolerance for ambiguity - this product category is genuinely new, and you’re energized, not stressed, by that

  • Evangelist energy - you make prospects feel like they’re getting in early on something important, because they are

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience selling analytics, AI/ML, or data platform products

  • Prior experience as a founding or first-hire seller at a startup or new product line

  • Bay Area based with ability to work regularly from our Mountain View office

The estimated annual salary range for this role is $300k – $400k in most U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary and will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and location of the selected candidate. 

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits. 

Mandatory and Required Skills for All ThoughtSpot Roles

Spotters are expected to demonstrate AI literacy and workflow integration to include to ability to:

  • Comfortably and confidently integrate artificial intelligence into their daily workflow to increase productivity and quality.

  • Hands-on experience to leverage AI tools (industry-leading LLMs) to increase productivity, automate routine tasks, and improve work quality.

  • Speak to the experience of using AI for research, content creation, and document summarization while maintaining ownership of judgment and final decisions.

  • Write effective prompts to get the most accurate and creative results from AI tools.

Spotters are expected to exemplify these key traits and AI Mindset:

  • Curiosity in exploring new AI tools

  • Adaptability to quickly learn and implement new, emerging AI technologies

  • Critical thinking to know when to identify when AI should be used versus when human judgement is necessary

Hybrid Work at ThoughtSpot

This office-assigned role is available as a hybrid position, reporting to the office in US - Mountain View.

Spotters assigned to an office are encouraged to experience the energy of their local office with an in-office expectation of 2-3 days per week. This approach balances the benefits of in-person collaboration and peer learning with the flexibility needed by individuals and teams.
