Director, MHS Technical Services

MHS Technical Services is a leading provider of skilled installation services for automated material handling systems in the Parcel industry. Our team focuses on safely delivering high quality installations both on-time and within budget. The Director will lead business operations and act as a general manager for the company. This role requires interfacing with local union halls, site superintendents, project managers, and clients to successfully plan and complete installation projects. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a services business, working with skilled labor trades, and exposure to the material handling installation industry and will be responsible for driving growth, managing operations, and providing strategic direction for the company.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the business and increase profitability.

· To hire and/or procure resources for installation projects and allocate to projects.

· Liaise with local union leadership regarding hiring of resources and handling labor relation issues, contract interpretation, etc.

· Implement and monitor procedures to ensure that the installations are delivered to a high standard, safely, on time and within budget.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and other key stakeholders. Collaborate with these stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.

· Manage the P&L for the business, monitor financial performance, and identify opportunities to improve profitability. Report results to the Board of Directors.

· Oversee the hiring, training, and development of staff to ensure the technical services team is staffed with highly skilled and motivated individuals.

· Lead and build a safety culture. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

· Submit bids by due dates.

· Achieve company goals for profit, service and customer satisfaction.

· Ensure that team members meet project budgets, company expectations and deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree (preferred)

· 10+ years of experience in a management or leadership role in a field services business

· Mechanical installation knowledge and basic understanding of project management skills

· Ability to build partnerships with local unions and union leadership, knowledge of labor laws and union procedures.

· Strong business acumen and financial management skills

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Experience working with union sub-contractors and union knowledge

· Proven track record of delivering results and driving growth

· Some travel required (50%)
