The Director of Marketing and Brand will collaborate across departments to create compelling marketing campaigns, oversee on-air and digital branding, and maximize CW39’s presence through experiential marketing, social media, and content partnerships. This leader will be responsible for managing the department’s P&L, ensuring marketing dollars are invested effectively to maximize ROI.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand Strategy & Creative Leadership
- Develop and execute a market-differentiating brand strategy that increases audience engagement and brand loyalty.
- Ensure a consistent and compelling brand presence across on-air, digital, social media, and community activations.
- Oversee the development of high-impact promotional content for news, weather, traffic, community initiatives, and special programming.
- Lead the creative direction for brand image campaigns, ensuring alignment with CW39’s identity and audience expectations.
Marketing & Audience Growth
- Design and implement multi-platform marketing strategies to drive viewership across linear TV, digital, streaming, and social media.
- Leverage performance marketing tools (SEO, paid social, programmatic advertising) to optimize campaign effectiveness.
- Track and analyze audience data to refine marketing strategies and improve campaign ROI.
- Manage media buys, including placement, invoice reconciliation, and station co-op campaigns to maximize budget impact.
H-Town Live Oversight & Growth Strategy
- Oversee and expand H-Town Live, ensuring it remains a leading local lifestyle show.
- Develop growth strategies to increase viewership, community relevance, and advertiser engagement.
- Work closely with the sales team to integrate branded content and sponsorships that enhance revenue without compromising editorial integrity.
- Enhance content, storytelling, and production quality to make the show more competitive in the lifestyle space.
Community & Experiential Marketing
- Collaborate with the Community Marketing Manager to activate CW39 at the grassroots level through sporting events, concerts, festivals, and other community activations.
- Develop and execute station activations that enhance audience engagement and brand visibility.
- Identify and establish strategic community partnerships to extend CW39’s reach in Houston.
Sales & Commercial Production
- Oversee the production of high-quality sales-related commercial content, ensuring alignment with both client expectations and CW39’s brand standards.
- Partner with the Director of Sales to develop revenue-driven branded content opportunities.
- Lead efforts to create engaging sponsorship integrations within programming and promotional campaigns.
Financial & Operational Management
- Manage the department’s P&L, ensuring marketing expenses are optimized for maximum ROI.
- Monitor and report on campaign performance metrics to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implement cost-effective strategies while ensuring high-impact marketing efforts.
Leadership & Team Development
- Inspire and mentor a high-performing creative team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Provide ongoing coaching and skill development to ensure continuous growth and adaptability.
- Advise and upskill team members in all phases of the creative process, including client creative discovery, creative strategy, and execution.
- Collaborate across departments (News, Sales, Digital, and Community Marketing) to align marketing efforts with broader station objectives.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the General Manager to support the overall success of CW39 Houston.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in brand marketing, creative services, or media marketing, preferably in the broadcast or digital space.
- Proven leadership in brand development, audience growth, and content promotion.
- Strong understanding of digital and performance marketing, including SEO, paid media, and audience analytics.
- Experience in commercial production and client-driven content creation.
- Strong project management, organizational, and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and influence leadership decisions.
- Experience with budget and expense management, including P&L oversight.
- Proficiency in managing media buys, co-op campaigns, and invoice reconciliation.
- Experience with audience research tools to optimize marketing and branding efforts.
