Job DescriptionThe Opportunity:
The Director of Logistics – LATAM is responsible for leading Mattel’s regional logistics strategy and execution across Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru. This role oversees end-to-end logistics strategy & operations, including ocean freight, customs, warehousing, and national distribution, ensuring operational excellence, cost optimization, and service quality. While primarily focused on strategic leadership, this role partners with commercial, procurement, finance, customer service, P & C (People and Culture) internally and with 3PL’s externally. The Director engages in operational matters to validate execution and ensure alignment with Mattel’s global standards. This position requires a strong ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders, third-party providers, and regulatory authorities to drive service, efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction across the region.
The position reports to the SVP, Global Logistics with a strong dotted line to the GM LATAM.
What Your Impact Will Be:
• Design and implement the regional logistics strategy aligned with global logistics supply chain strategy and objectives while incorporating local market needs. Optimize regional distribution networks and transportation routes.
• Manage logistics budgets, forecasting, and cost-savings initiatives. Present operational performance and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead local and regional teams, fostering collaboration, driving synergies, and implementing best practices across LATAM.
• Define key KPIs, execute agreed global logistics KPI’s, and deliver executive-level reporting to regional and global leadership.
• Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, including ocean freight, customs clearance, warehousing, and domestic distribution.
• Lead, mentor, and develop talent pipeline of Sr. Managers based in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including shipping lines, customs brokers, logistics service providers, retailers, distributors, and customs authorities.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with international trade regulations and local customs requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize logistics costs, enhance on-time delivery performance, and improve service levels.
• Provide strategic oversight while remaining engaged in key operational activities to validate proper execution and risk management.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives involving ERP, TMS, WMS, and logistics analytics.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks while developing business continuity plans.
QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For:
• Bachelor’s Degree Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Multi-lingual and proficient in Spanish & English with written, verbal, and excellent presentation skills to influence results. Fluency in Portuguese is highly desirable.
• 10- years progressive experience in supply chain and logistics within multinational companies, preferably in consumer goods, retail, or manufacturing industries. Proven experience managing multi-country logistics operations and leading cross-border teams in LATAM. Demonstrated track record in cost optimization, operational efficiency, and trade compliance.
• Strong strategy & leadership capabilities to design and execute regional logistics plans aligned with global objectives. Deep knowledge of international logistics, customs processes, warehousing, and distribution in LATAM. Expertise in Customs & Compliance, ensuring full adherence to international trade regulations and local requirements. Demonstrated capability in Transformation & Continuous Improvement, driving efficiency and process innovation across logistics operations. Multicultural leadership capability, with proven success leading diverse, cross-border teams. Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills across multiple levels of the organization and external partners. Innovative and progressive mindset to transform logistics processes and embrace new technologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to balance strategy and hands-on execution.
