Azurity is growing & the Director of Leadership Development will play a critical role in building the management capabilities and high-potential talent pipeline that will sustain our commercial field organization through its next phase of growth. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Training & Development, this role owns the design, delivery, and ongoing evolution of field manager development programming — from frontline first-line manager onboarding through advanced leadership curricula for experienced DSMs and high-potential field talent. The successful candidate will bring both the strategic vision to build a best-in-class field leadership program and the hands-on capability to execute it.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead a comprehensive field manager development program spanning new manager onboarding, core management skills, and advanced leadership development for experienced FLMs.
- Build and manage a high-potential identification and development framework for field talent, in partnership with HR and commercial leadership.
- Develop curriculum, facilitation guides, and learning assets for in-person, virtual, and blended manager development programming.
- Partner with Sales Leadership and HR on FLM performance management processes, coaching frameworks, and capability assessment tools.
- Own the iCoach and ride-along program design and governance, ensuring a consistent, measurable approach to field coaching quality.
- Evaluate and integrate external leadership development resources, vendors, and assessments (e.g., 360 tools, coaching platforms, personality assessments) where appropriate.
- Measure and report program effectiveness through pre/post assessments, field performance correlation, and participant feedback.
- Collaborate with the broader T&D team to ensure leadership development content integrates with clinical, product, and selling skills curricula.
- Stay current on best practices in field leadership development, adult learning science, and pharmaceutical commercial management trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in organizational development, education, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical commercial training, organizational development, or a combination of both.
- Deep expertise in field manager and leadership development program design and facilitation.
- Experience managing or coaching field sales managers in a specialty pharmaceutical environment strongly preferred.
- Strong facilitation skills — able to engage, challenge, and develop leaders at all experience levels.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain leadership development programs from the ground up.
- Data-driven approach to measuring learning effectiveness and linking development programs to commercial outcomes.
- Strong cross-functional relationship skills with HR, field leadership, and commercial operations stakeholders.
