DESCRIPTION
The Director of IT Procurement is responsible for leading and overseeing the enterprise IT Procurement function, including Strategic Sourcing, IT Asset Management (ITAM), and Technology Procurement Operations. This role drives value creation through effective vendor governance, contract negotiation, cost optimization, and performance management.
The Director will modernize procurement capabilities by strategically leveraging AI, automation, and analytics to enhance operational efficiency, improve vendor evaluation processes, strengthen governance, and deliver measurable financial and operational outcomes. This position plays a critical leadership role in aligning technology investments with enterprise strategy while mitigating risk and maximizing value.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IT procurement and strategic sourcing strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
- Oversee all IT procurement activities, including software, hardware, cloud services, SaaS, telecommunications, managed services, and emerging technologies.
- Lead enterprise-wide RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes, ensuring competitive sourcing, transparency, and compliance with procurement standards.
- Lead complex vendor and contract negotiations to optimize pricing, commercial terms, service levels, and risk mitigation.
- Establish and mature vendor management and governance frameworks, including performance scorecards, KPIs, business reviews, and compliance monitoring.
- Oversee contract lifecycle management, including renewals, amendments, and compliance tracking.
- Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of AI-enabled procurement tools, automation platforms, and advanced analytics for spend management, contract analysis, and vendor performance insights.
- Oversee enterprise IT Asset Management (hardware, software, and cloud assets), ensuring lifecycle governance, license compliance, and optimization of asset utilization.
- Partner with IT, Finance, Legal, Security, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on technology investments and contractual obligations.
- Monitor and report on procurement performance metrics, cost savings, spend under management, vendor risk, and service outcomes.
- Identify and deliver measurable cost savings, cost avoidance, and total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, financial controls, regulatory requirements, and security standards.
- Foster a culture of accountability, operational excellence, innovation, and customer service within the procurement organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise IT Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Vendor Management, and IT Asset Management team members.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to ensure high performance and succession readiness.
- Establish clear performance objectives, metrics, and accountability standards.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Information Technology, or related field required.
- Master’s degree (MBA or related discipline) preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management, or technology operations.
- 5+ years of experience overseeing procurement in AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing procurement or sourcing teams.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, ITIL, or related procurement/IT certifications preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale technology negotiations and enterprise RFP initiatives.
- Experience overseeing multimillion-dollar IT portfolios.
- Proven track record of implementing process improvements, governance frameworks, and cost optimization strategies.
- Experience leveraging AI, automation, or digital procurement tools to improve operational efficiency preferred.
- Strong executive negotiation and contract management skills.
- Deep understanding of software licensing models (SaaS, subscription, perpetual), cloud economics, hardware procurement, and managed services agreements.
- Strong knowledge of IT Asset Management practices and lifecycle governance.
- Experience establishing vendor management frameworks, performance metrics, and governance models.
- Financial acumen with strong analytical and cost modeling capabilities.
- Proficiency in procurement systems, contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms, spend analytics tools, and ERP systems.
- Ability to leverage AI and automation strategically to enhance procurement operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $141,879 to $245,816. Salary is dependent on the experience level and qualifications of the incoming candidate.
