Introduction

The selected candidate will be an engineering director with technical leadership co-role for the GlobalFoundries IP Engineering team in Hsinchu and will lead the development of high-performance compute processor IP products. This role is responsible for setting organizational operation models for the multi-site R&D teams in alignment with business and product development strategies, building a high-performing and highly engaged team, and driving talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.

Your Role

The Director will provide overall leadership across planning, execution, and operational management, ensuring high-quality delivery and strong collaboration across sites and cross-functional teams.

In a dual leadership capacity (management + technical), this role will be accountable for the end-to-end quality of execution for one or more critical domains such as design, verification, or program execution tracking within product development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program & Execution Leadership

  • Define and drive execution strategy aligned with product and business goals

  • Oversee program planning, execution, and delivery across multiple teams and sites

  • Review and govern plans, specifications, and execution milestones for owned functions

  • Ensure strong execution discipline, predictability, and delivery quality

2. Technical Leadership

  • Provide leadership across key domains such as:

    • Design and micro-architecture

    • Verification (simulation, formal)

    • Engineering flows and methodology

    • Execution tracking and delivery governance

  • Act as a technical authority, guiding teams on architecture, implementation, and verification strategy

  • Engage selectively in hands-on technical contributions based on business needs and individual expertise

3. Team & Capability Development

  • Coach and mentor engineering teams to elevate technical depth and execution rigor

  • Drive process, methodology, and best practice improvements

  • Strengthen team capability through structured development and knowledge sharing

4. Cross-Functional & Cross-Site Collaboration

  • Partner with stakeholders across:

    • Product definition and requirements planning

    • Program initiation and execution governance

    • Customer engagement and delivery alignment

  • Collaborate on methodology development, quality improvements, and engineering systems initiatives

  • Support system bring-up and product delivery activities across global teams

5. Quality & Operational Excellence

  • Own and drive delivery quality, consistency, and continuous improvement

  • Lead initiatives in:

    • Engineering efficiency and scalability

    • Development system enhancements

    • End-to-end delivery excellence

Job RequirementsQualifications & Experience

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline from a reputable institution is required

20+ years of experience in digital front-end design, implementation, verification, validation, or project/program management for computational IP development

Proven track record in senior technical leadership or engineering management roles

Demonstrated ownership of signoff accountability, delivery quality, and customer satisfaction

Proven experience in driving high-quality execution and elevating team capability, including leadership in complex delivery environments

Experience in multi-site and/or multi-tier team leadership is highly preferred, with the ability to drive alignment across geographically distributed teams

Strong expertise in:

  • Microprocessor architecture, memory architecture, and system architecture

  • Digital design and verification methodologies across full product development lifecycle

Technical proficiency in:

  • HDL and verification languages (SystemVerilog, Verilog, UVM)

  • Micro-architecture, RTL design, and verification methodologies (UVM/OVM, formal verification, functional coverage)

  • Authoring and reviewing technical specifications and design documents

Programming and scripting skills, including:

  • SystemVerilog, C/C++, Assembly

  • Python, Perl, and other automation scripts

Hands-on experience with industry-standard tools:

  • RTL design and verification tools (linters, simulators, synthesis tools, formal verification)

  • Flow automation and engineering productivity tools

  • Collaboration platforms (CI/CD pipelines, source control, issue tracking, project management tools)

Strong program management and execution capabilities, including:

  • Requirements analysis and objective evaluation

  • Problem decomposition, prioritization, and risk management

  • Resource planning, task allocation, and execution tracking

  • Data-driven decision-making with clear articulation of execution strategy, business value, and ROI vs. risk trade-offs

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, product, and business functions
