The Role

Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

As Director, Internal Communications, you will establish and scale Oura’s internal communications function from the ground up. You’ll design the systems, channels, and rituals that foster a shared understanding of our culture, values, and ways of working as we grow across products, businesses, and geographies.

Reporting to the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, you will be a strategic thought partner to our Executive Team, People/HR leadership, and cross‑functional leaders worldwide. You’ll own the internal narrative, guide companywide communications, and ensure our global, primarily remote workforce feels informed, aligned, and connected — wherever they are.

This is a highly visible, hands‑on role for a leader who can think at system level while rolling up their sleeves to write, edit, and ship high‑impact communications.

This is a remote role, but the candidate must be based in the United States.

Build and scale the internal communications function

  • Define and stand up Oura’s internal communications strategy, frameworks, and governance — including channels, cadences, and standards for a distributed, remote‑first workforce with regional hubs.
  • Establish clear principles and playbooks for how we communicate company priorities, changes, and milestones across time zones and teams.
  • Build and continuously improve internal comms processes, templates, and review workflows to ensure clarity, consistency, and speed.

Run high‑impact companywide forums

  • Own strategy, content, and execution for global all‑hands and other recurring companywide forums — including agendas, narratives, speaker prep, and follow‑up communications.
  • Partner with executive leaders to design engaging formats that connect company strategy to day‑to‑day work, highlight wins, and create space for open Q&A and feedback.
  • Develop repeatable rituals (e.g., quarterly business reviews, culture moments, values spotlights) that reinforce alignment as we scale.

Partner deeply with People/HR and leadership

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the People/HR team on organizational changes, programs, and initiatives (e.g., performance cycles, benefits, engagement surveys, manager enablement, workplace policies).
  • Lead internal communication plans for major organizational shifts (org design changes, new offices/hubs, leadership transitions), ensuring employees understand the “what,” “why,” and “what it means for me.”
  • Work closely with the Executive Team and senior leaders to shape internal narratives that reflect Oura’s culture, values, and long‑term strategy.

Uplevel channels, content, and ways of working

  • Audit and optimize existing channels (e.g., Slack, email, intranet/knowledge base, town halls) to reduce noise, increase signal, and make it easier for employees to find what they need.
  • Develop and maintain an internal “source of truth” for company priorities, OKRs, and key updates in partnership with cross‑functional leaders.
  • Create clear, accessible content — from CEO notes and leadership updates to FAQs, talking points, and manager toolkits — that help teams cascade information consistently.

Enable managers and culture carriers

  • Equip people managers and local leaders with the tools and guidance they need to communicate effectively with their teams about company strategy, change, and culture.
  • Build manager‑friendly toolkits (e.g., meeting guides, templates, FAQs, slide packs) for major launches, announcements, and behavioral expectations.
  • Partner with our People and External Communications teams to ensure internal storytelling reflects and reinforces Oura’s values and desired ways of working.

Measure, listen, and continuously improve

  • Define KPIs and feedback mechanisms for internal communications (e.g., reach, engagement, sentiment, understanding), and use insights to refine content, channels, and formats over time.
  • Establish listening systems — from surveys and pulse checks to Q&A channels and office hours — that give employees meaningful ways to ask questions and share feedback.
  • Act as a champion for transparency and clarity, surfacing themes and insights from the org back to leadership to inform decisions and future communications.

We would love to consider you for this role if you have:

  • 12+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or related fields, including time in high‑growth, global, or remote‑first organizations.
  • A proven track record of building or significantly scaling an internal communications function — including strategy, channels, cadence, and measurement.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and running global all‑hands or companywide forums, including narrative development, speaker coaching, and Q&A management.
  • Deep experience partnering with People/HR and executive leadership on sensitive, complex topics such as org changes, culture, policies, and company performance.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for executives, managers, ICs, and global audiences across channels (Slack, email, live/virtual events, intranet).
  • A high degree of AI literacy, with a thoughtful approach to using AI and automation tools to improve clarity and efficiency while keeping humans in the loop for judgment, nuance, and decision‑making.
  • Strong systems thinking and program management skills — you know how to design processes that scale, and you are comfortable managing multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Comfort operating at both strategic and hands‑on levels — from setting long‑term internal comms strategy to drafting a CEO note or all‑hands script yourself.
  • Experience working with or in consumer technology, health technology, or wellness companies is a plus, as is experience in globally distributed or hybrid organizations.
  • A passion for culture, clarity, and connection — and for helping people understand how their work ladders up to a larger mission.
