We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Infrastructure Engineering to lead our team of Database Operations Engineers at JP Mogran Chase within the Infrastructure Platform Line of Business. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the management and optimization of our database infrastructure, which includes Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and CockroachDB. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and leadership skills to drive innovation and efficiency in our database operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of Database Operations Engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Develop and implement strategies for database infrastructure management, focusing on scalability, reliability, and security.
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of database systems, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database operations with business objectives and support the development of new products and services.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance database performance, reduce downtime, and optimize resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to data management and security.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective solutions and services.
- Develop and manage the budget for the database operations team, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in database management and infrastructure engineering, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization.
- Lead incident response and problem resolution efforts for database-related issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skill:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within infrastructure engineering, with a focus on database operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skill:
- Strong technical expertise in Oracle . Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, and CockroachDB is a plus.
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions and infrastructure as code (IaC) is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to data management and security.
