Job Description Summary
- Serve as Vertex's first dedicated in-house Finance leader for the India entity, responsible for accounting, statutory compliance, tax, payroll finance support, treasury coordination, and financial governance as the entity scales.
- Own the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of monthly financial close activities, including reconciliations, reporting packages, and consolidation inputs in coordination with global accounting teams.
- Lead the transition of finance operations from an external service provider to a scalable, in-house India finance model, including defining roles, responsibilities, controls, timelines, and ongoing oversight expectations.
- Ensure accounting records comply with US GAAP, India statutory requirements, the Companies Act, Company policies, and applicable local regulatory standards.
- Coordinate India statutory audit, Registrar of Companies filings, tax registrations, corporate secretarial matters, and regulatory requirements with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
- Establish and monitor scalable India finance policies, close procedures, account reconciliations, approval workflows, and internal controls aligned with Company standards and SOX requirements.
- Support a Workday ERP implementation for India operations, including process design, data readiness, UAT, control requirements, statutory reporting considerations, and post-implementation stabilization.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive professional accounting experience, including ownership of the month-end close and financial reporting process and involvement across multiple accounting and finance disciplines.
- 5+ years of people leadership responsibility, including performance management, employee development, compensation, and retention.
- Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP, India statutory accounting requirements, and Companies Act compliance; working knowledge of IFRS concepts.
- Experience managing international subsidiaries and consolidation, preferably in support of a US-headquartered parent company.
- Treasury management experience, including oversight of multi-currency operations.
- Proven experience managing indirect taxes (GST), corporate income tax coordination, TDS/withholding taxes, payroll-related compliance, and other jurisdiction-specific regulatory filings.
- CPA, Chartered Accountant, or other recognized professional accounting qualification; or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of a formal degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting intercompany transactions, transfer pricing documentation, and related local compliance obligations.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle, Workday, or a comparable cloud-based ERP system.
- Experience supporting SOX compliance programs and internal control frameworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to translate complex financial matters for cross-functional and senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional networks, operate independently, and make sound decisions within broad scope and ambiguity.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of a formal degree.

The expected base salary range for this role varies by location and is expressed in local currency.
