BASIC FUNCTION:

The Director of Human Resources provides day-to-day leadership of the Human Resources department while helping bring Minds Matter's people strategy to life. Working closely with the Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Culture Officer, this role ensures exceptional execution of talent, employee experience, compliance, workforce development, and HR operations. The Director plays a key role in building an engaged, inclusive, and high-performing workforce that allows our team, and ultimately the people we serve, to thrive.


SPECIFIC DUTIES

Leadership & Department Oversight

• Implement the strategic vision and departmental priorities established by the Vice President of Human Resources.

• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, supervision, and accountability for Human Resources staff.

• Translate organizational goals into operational HR initiatives and measurable outcomes.

• Recommend improvements to HR policies, processes, and workforce practices for consideration by the Vice President.

• Serve as the operational leader of the HR department in the Vice President's absence, as appropriate. 

• Partner with leaders to support performance management processes, leadership development, coaching, and employee growth.


Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

• Lead recruitment operations and ensure staffing goals are achieved.

• Provide leadership and support to the Recruiting Manager to strengthen talent pipelines and recruitment outcomes.

• Monitor recruitment metrics and workforce trends and recommend operational improvements.

• Develop partnerships with educational institutions and professional organizations.

• Partner with organizational leaders to develop strategies that strengthen recruitment, retention, succession planning, and workforce development.


Employee Experience & Culture

• Partner with the Chief Culture Officer to support employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and culture initiatives.

• Ensure HR practices reinforce Minds Matter's core values of Person-Centered, Creativity, Community, Inclusive, and Advocacy.

• Support leaders in building respectful, collaborative, and high-performing teams.

• Coach leaders in navigating employee relations, performance conversations, conflict resolution, and leadership best practices.


Compliance & HR Operations

• Lead HR operations, compliance, records management, and employee relations.


• Ensure compliance with employment laws, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.

• Lead investigations and corrective action processes while advising leaders on best practices.

• Use HR metrics and analytics to improve departmental performance and inform recommendations.

• Champion HR technology, reporting, and process improvements that increase efficiency and support informed decision-making.

• Identify organizational HR risks and recommend proactive solutions that minimize compliance exposure while supporting positive employee experiences.


Compensation & Benefits

• Lead administration of compensation and benefits programs.

• Provide recommendations to the Vice President regarding total rewards, market competitiveness, and annual benefit strategies.

• Evaluate compensation and benefits trends and provide recommendations that support recruitment, retention, and organizational sustainability.


Organizational Relationships

• Reports to the Vice President of Human Resources.

• Provides supervision to the Recruiting Manger, HR Generalist, and other HR personnel as assigned.

• Partners closely with the Chief Culture Officer and collaborates with executive leadership, directors, and managers.


Leadership Competencies

• Lead HR operational improvements and organizational change initiatives that enhance the employee experience and support company growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required;

• Master's degree preferred.

• SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR certification preferred.

• 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with increasing leadership responsibility.

• Experience in benefit management

• Experience supervising HR professionals and leading operational initiatives.

• Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, employee relations, and healthcare or multi-site organizations preferred.

Work is reviewed based upon accuracy, timeliness, and quality of work

Work Location

This position is approved for hybrid remote work.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with increasing leadership responsibility
  • Experience in benefits management
  • Experience supervising HR professionals

  • Master's degree
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
  • Knowledge of employment law, compliance, and employee relations
