We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.

Help shape the people strategy behind a global business. As Director of Human Resources for our Materials and Structural Analysis business (MSD), you’ll provide strategic HR leadership to the Global Service and Finance organizations, partnering with senior leaders to turn business priorities into people and organizational strategies that deliver results.

You’ll lead across talent management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, engagement, leadership development, and change management in a complex, global, matrixed environment.

Combining strategic perspective with a hands-on approach, you’ll use business insight and people analytics to anticipate needs, address complex challenges, and make a meaningful impact. You’ll also help bring our 4i Values—Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement—to life across the organization.

What you’ll do
  • Partner strategically: Advise senior leaders across MSD Global Service and Finance, translating business priorities into people strategies that support growth, operational performance, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Shape the organization and workforce: Lead organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and change management to help ensure the business has the right structures, capabilities, and leadership for current and future needs.
  • Build talent and leadership: Set talent strategies across leadership development, performance, engagement, succession, and retention. Coach leaders to strengthen their effectiveness, build high-performing teams, and develop critical talent.
  • Use insight to drive impact: Apply people analytics and business insight to anticipate organizational needs and shape practical solutions. Champion an inclusive, high-performing culture grounded in our 4i Values.
  • Work across HR: Collaborate with global HR colleagues and Centers of Excellence to deliver integrated talent and organizational solutions and an exceptional colleague experience.

What you’ll bring

  • A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
  • Success as a strategic HR partner to senior and executive leaders, ideally in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Business and financial acumen, with the ability to turn business priorities into practical, high-impact people strategies.
  • Experience leading organizational transformation, change management, organizational design, and strategic workforce planning.
  • A record of developing and delivering strategies for talent management, succession, leadership development, engagement, performance, and retention.
  • Executive presence and the ability to influence, challenge, coach, and build trusted relationships across functions, geographies, and organizational levels.
  • Skill in coaching and developing leaders, strengthening team effectiveness, and building organizational capability.
  • Strong communication, presentation, consultation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making, with the ability to turn insights into action.
  • Experience using HR technology, analytics, and process improvement to improve organizational effectiveness and the colleague experience.
  • The ability to navigate ambiguity, balance priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced global environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience supporting global Service, Finance, commercial, or operational organizations within a complex multinational company.
  • Experience with process improvement methods such as Lean or Six Sigma.

We offer competitive remuneration, annual incentive plan bonus scheme, healthcare, company 401k, and a range of employee benefits! Thermo Fisher Scientific offers employment with an innovative, forward-thinking organization, and outstanding career and development prospects. We offer an exciting company culture that stands for integrity, intensity, involvement, and innovation.
