Position Summary:


The Director of the Honors College provides visionary leadership to advance the mission of St. Thomas University’s Honors College: developing ethical and resilient leaders for life. The Director is responsible for the ongoing development, management, and assessment of the Honors College, ensuring a transformative educational experience that emphasizes personalized attention, leadership development, mentorship, and community engagement. The Director is responsible for curriculum development, student advising, recruitment, and retention, and serves as the primary spokesperson for the college, fostering relationships with diverse internal and external constituencies. This position reports directly to the Provost’s Office.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the design and delivery of a rigorous academic program that fosters ethical leadership, resilience, and a commitment to purpose, passion, and opportunity.
  • Coordinate co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including community engagement projects, study abroad, and cultural colloquiums, to enrich students’ academic and personal growth.
  • Accompany and support students during regional, national, and international academic events, as well as local community engagement activities.
  • Coordinate and ensure Honors students’ participation in high-profile campus events and signature university functions, supporting both their professional development and the visibility of the Honors College.
  • Oversee personalized advising and mentorship programs, ensuring one-on-one support for Honors students.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review an assessment plan to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of Honors College programs and initiatives.
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor the Honors College budget, including scholarship and funding opportunities for research, internships, and professional development, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and fiscal responsibility
  • Foster and maintain partnerships with external organizations, community leaders, and professional associations that benefit Honors College students.
  • Oversee the maintenance and regular updating of the Honors College website and digital social media presence.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Philanthropy and other stakeholders to develop and implement fundraising and development initiatives.
  • Teach Honors courses as needed and mentor Honors faculty and students.
  • Supervise Honors College staff and student workers (if applicable).
  • Serve as the primary liaison for student recruitment, admissions, and eligibility processes, ensuring alignment with program standards (e.g., 3.5 GPA, application, interview, and demonstrated commitment to academics, community engagement, and ethical leadership).

Qualifications:


  • Master’s or terminal degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in higher education, including teaching and/or engaging undergraduate students in high-impact educational practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in program administration, curriculum development, and assessment.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and digital communication tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for a diverse student body.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of developing ethical and resilient leaders through transformative education.
