UJA-Federation of New York is the largest local philanthropy in the world.  In 2025, the organization distributed close to $400MM, making more than 1200 individual grants of various sizes and types.  Grant making is an iterative process between lay leaders at the executive and committee levels.  Professionals play a crucial role in building expertise and relationships that contribute to decision making and oversight.   Data informs the conversation at every level.  Over the past five years, UJA has taken significant steps towards building a coherent system for collecting program data and measuring outputs.  With a transition to the Salesforce platform, e are now ready for the next step.

UJA is seeking a professional to specifically lead the build out of metrics for the purpose of helping decision making and sharing results. This is a role for a senior leader who brings strong strategic and analytical instincts, deep operational discipline, and the relational sensibility required to work effectively in a federated setting with strong committee culture and lay leadership at every level. The right person will be excited by the chance to help build something new and real that materially improves how a complex, multi-field organization makes decisions and will be genuinely energized by working in service of an organizational agenda.

This position will report directly to the Chief Planning Officer and work closely alongside the CPER Operations team, the Digital Data and Insights team, and other planning and evaluation professionals to ensure data quality, integrity, and alignment between various systems of measurement and assessment.  This is a senior leadership role that exists to give the Chief Planning Officer a critical partner, and the capacity, and operational backbone needed to advance the UJA's most important strategic and monitoring priorities at the pace and depth those priorities warrant.

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Partner with the CPO and planners to translate the strategic vision into clearly defined targets and goals that can be tracked, monitored, and reported against — serving as the bridge between strategy and measurable outcomes 
  • Ensure that grants awarded align to and roll up into the strategic targets and goals — so that funding decisions are always connected to the broader strategy, and that data collected across grant activity directly supports those targets and goals 
  • Lead the organization's impact monitoring process to evaluate and communicate the effectiveness of strategic priorities and grant investments 
  • Translate the results of impact evaluations into actionable learnings and insights that will be shared with lay leaders and the community. 
  • Lead financial analysis of grant investments, assessing return on strategic impact and ensuring funding allocations are aligned with organizational priorities and measurable outcomes 
  • Further develop the data collection efforts alongside the Operations and Data teams and contribute new ideas towards refining and expanding the existing data collection frameworks.   
  • Assist colleagues in the Planning Division in setting measurable goals and monitoring progress against them.This includes responsibility for training and teaching. 
  • Partner with CPER Operations and the Data and Insights teams to implement automated dashboards and reporting systems that integrate programs, grants, and financial data across Salesforce and related platforms, and standardize financial and impact KPIs for consistent organizational reporting.

  • 8-10 years of work with data collection, analysis, and monitoring.

Skills Required

  • At least 8 years of professional work experience
  • 3-5 years of relevant financial and measurement experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree
  • Hands-on experience leading planning and execution of financial impact evaluations using qualitative and quantitative techniques
  • Proven experience with financial modeling, forecasting, or scenario analysis in a mission-driven context
  • Experience translating financial data into strategic recommendations and board-level presentations
  • Experience implementing automated financial dashboards and reporting systems integrating program, grants, and financial data (Salesforce experience preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively; strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to make executive decisions while respecting professional colleagues and lay leadership
