⚡ The Opportunity

Are you ready to help shape the future of energy? At Hitachi Energy, we’re not just powering homes and industries—we’re powering progress. As a global leader in grid technologies, we’re tackling one of the most urgent challenges of our time: balancing soaring electricity demand with the need to decarbonize the power system.

We’re seeking a passionate and strategic government relations professional to join our team and lead trade and foreign policy engagement across North America. This is your chance to work at the intersection of energy, manufacturing, and policy—where your expertise will directly influence the future of sustainable power infrastructure.

You’ll be part of a mission-driven organization with the largest installed base of transformers in North America and a century-long legacy of innovation. From high-voltage products to automation and power electronics, our technologies touch the lives of over three billion people every day.

This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with federal agencies, trade associations, and internal business leaders across North America to drive meaningful change. If you’re ready to make an impact in a fast-evolving industry, we invite you to bring your voice, your vision, and your values to Hitachi Energy. This position will sit in Washington, D.C. and report to the Vice President of Government & Institutional Relations.

  • Build strategic relationships with officials in trade, grid, energy generation, and manufacturing

  • Create compelling messaging materials and secure thought leadership opportunities

  • Support embassy relations and regional policy initiatives

  • Collaborate with supply chain and compliance teams to align policy with business goals

  • Monitor and influence regulatory developments impacting the power industry

  • Drive brand elevation through strategic advocacy and stakeholder engagement

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines

🎓 Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

  • 9–12 years of experience in trade policy, federal government, or association leadership

  • Fluent in Spanish and French for effective communication and policy analysis

  • Proven success in advancing trade and energy policies across North America

  • Experience in energy and manufacturing sectors preferred

  • Skilled in policy research, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory strategy

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
