Aptiv is hiring a Director, Global Trade Services, GBS who will be responsible for establishing, scaling, and leading Aptiv’s global Trade Services organization within Global Business Services (GBS). The role will build a centralized, compliant, and efficient service model for trade operations and compliance activities, enabling standardization, cost efficiency, and service excellence across the enterprise.

This role will lead the transition and establishment of operational trade activities into GBS and oversee a global service delivery model across key hubs, while ensuring strong alignment with Corporate Trade, Legal/Compliance, and the Business Units.

 

Global Trade Services Leadership 

  • Establish and lead the global Trade Services  organization within GBS, including organizational design, governance, and service delivery model 

  • Build and lead a global, multi-location team across trade operations, compliance, and service enablement 

  • Own overall service delivery performance, including customer satisfaction, quality, and compliance outcomes 

 

 Trade Operations & Compliance Execution 

  • Deliver standardized, compliant, and scalable trade services globally: initial scope includes  

- Import/export classification 

- Origin determination and valuation support 

- Duty reconciliation and customs payments 

- Screening and export controls management 

- Import/export operational support  

  • Ensure strong controls, audit readiness, and adherence to global regulatory requirements 

  • Support execution of trade compliance programs and remediation actions  

Service Transition & Operating Model Delivery 

  • Lead the identification, scoping, and transition of trade activities from Corporate Trade and Business Units into GBS 

  • Define and implement the target operating model, including scope, roles, and responsibilities across GBS, Corporate Trade, and Business Units 

  • Ensure structured, controlled transitions with minimal business disruption and clear accountability 

  • Drive the establishment of standardized, end-to-end processes across trade services 

 

Performance Management & Value Delivery 

  • Define and govern KPIs, SLAs, and performance management frameworks 

  • Drive delivery against cost, productivity, and service quality targets 

  • Establish value tracking mechanisms aligned with business case objectives 

  • Provide executive-level reporting on performance, risks, and opportunities 

 

Stakeholder & Governance Management 

  • Act as the primary interface between GBS, Corporate Trade, Legal/Compliance, and Business Units 

  • Ensure alignment with enterprise trade strategy and governance frameworks 

  • Support planning activities, including restructurings, expansions, and integration initiatives. 

 

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Law, or related field 

  • 15+ years of experience in global trade, customs, compliance, or international operations 

  • Proven leadership experience in global operations, consulting, or service delivery environments 

  • Deep expertise in trade compliance, import/export operations, and regulatory frameworks 

  • Experience leading large-scale operating model changes, service transitions, or transformations 

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across global, matrixed organizations 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience establishing or leading operations/shared services 

  • Familiarity with automation, analytics, and digital service delivery models 

  • Industry experience in manufacturing, automotive, or global supply chain environments
