Director of Global Sourcing & Product Operations
Position Overview
TrueTimber Outdoors and Lakota Products are seeking an experienced sourcing and supply chain leader to oversee the global sourcing, development, quality, and production of apparel products across multiple international manufacturing partners.
This individual will be responsible for identifying and managing factory relationships, negotiating costs, ensuring product quality, improving margins, monitoring on-time delivery performance, and overseeing third-party quality control personnel located within factory partners around the world.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience sourcing apparel and sewn products from Asia and other global manufacturing regions and understands how to balance cost, quality, compliance, and speed to market.
Key Responsibilities
Global Factory Management
- Develop and manage relationships with apparel manufacturers worldwide
- Identify and qualify new factory partners
- Maintain factory scorecards measuring:
- Cost competitiveness
- Quality performance
- On-time delivery
- Capacity
- Compliance
- Lead annual factory reviews
Cost Negotiation & Margin Improvement
- Negotiate product costs with factory partners
- Continuously identify cost savings opportunities
- Analyze material, labor, freight, duty, and tariff impacts
- Develop sourcing strategies that improve gross margin while maintaining quality standards
- Support annual costing initiatives with major retailers
Product Development Support
- Partner with merchandising and product development teams
- Support vendor selection and manufacturing strategy
- Ensure product specifications are understood and executed by factories
- Participate in product reviews and factory evaluations
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Manage internal and third-party quality control personnel
- Establish factory quality standards and inspection procedures
- Monitor product testing and compliance requirements
- Resolve quality concerns and corrective action plans
- Ensure consistency across all manufacturing partners
Production & Delivery Management
- Monitor production schedules
- Track on-time delivery performance
- Resolve production bottlenecks and shipment delays
- Work closely with logistics and customer service teams
- Maintain visibility into factory capacity and production planning
Team Leadership
- Manage factory-based quality personnel
- Lead sourcing and production teams as the organization grows
- Develop sourcing processes and performance metrics
- Create accountability throughout the supply chain
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of apparel sourcing experience
- Extensive experience sourcing from:
- Vietnam
- China
- Bangladesh
- India
- Cambodia
- Indonesia
- Central America
- Strong apparel manufacturing knowledge
- Proven cost negotiation experience
- Experience managing factory relationships
- Experience with quality assurance programs
- Strong understanding of global supply chains
Preferred
- Outdoor industry experience
