Position Summary:

This position will lead multiple development programs and/or a high‑priority late‑stage asset and contribute to enterprise‑level portfolio strategy within a growing preclinical and clinical stage pipeline.  The Senior Director, Global Product Leader is responsible for the long‑range strategic leadership of a Global Product Team, overseeing multi‑year strategy setting, decision making, and enterprise‑aligned resource/budget management and prioritization across development, regulatory, CMC, operations, and business functions to ensure sustained, value‑maximizing progression of the program(s).  This role will be responsible for the full lifecycle and portfolio value management of assigned products, ensuring that long‑term strategic objectives and enterprise priorities are met.  The Global Product Leader will ensure cross‑functional and organizational readiness for regulatory filings, IND applications, and planning through commercial launch activities, across multiple stages of development.  All Global Product Leaders have regular and direct communication with the CEO and are expected to be the CEO’s senior delegate of authority for strategic decision‑making and execution through development to successful commercial launch and lifecycle management.  They are also expected to represent their products effectively to the board of directors, key scientific and medical leaders, and investors on matters with material impact to Crinetics’ long‑term growth and enterprise value.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Scope

  • Lead cross‑functional Global Product Team(s)
    and provide strategic direction across multiple teams and/or programs, partnering with Project Management and functional leadership.
  • Own enterprise‑level accountability for program and portfolio outcomes, serving as the primary executive point of contact for the CEO and Executive Leadership Team.

Strategy & Governance

  • Shape and influence corporate and portfolio‑level strategy, including therapeutic area expansion and prioritization decisions.
  • Accountable for building
    long‑range, differentiated product and lifecycle strategies aligned to enterprise objectives.
  • Lead and communicate product strategy at governance meetings, driving alignment on high‑impact, long‑term decisions.

Decision‑Making & Risk

  • Drive the team to out‑of‑box thinking,
    own and proactively manage strategic, scientific, operational, and financial risk.
  • Challenge assumptions, timelines, and expenses
    across programs and portfolio scenarios, creating alternatives to enable strategic agility.

People & Enterprise Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and develop senior cross‑functional leaders, strengthening succession and enterprise capability.
  • Partner with functional heads
    to drive enterprise integration, prioritization, and sustained performance across functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field required. PhD., MD, MPH, MS, or other advanced degree in scientific field preferred.
  • Minimum of 15+ years related experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience, including leading leaders in complex matrix organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and execute multi‑year strategy with enterprise impact.
  • Proven success influencing executive leadership, governance bodies, and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in product development in oncology, including regulatory filings (INDs, BLA/NDA), DC nomination, and/or life cycle management.
  • Strong understanding of comprehensive drug development process with a focus on early to mid-stage product development.
  • Demonstrated cross functional ability to lead and react to different situations and emotions of others, including customers, employees, and all others; high EQ.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and effectively lead diverse groups of people and teams.
  • A proactive and strategic thinker, with strong decision-making skills.  
  • Excellent business acumen with demonstrated ability to align teams to corporate strategy to achieve business and project objectives.  
  • Proven ability to successfully lead and manage effectively across a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders and constituents.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (including presentation skills) with success in influencing all levels cross-functionally.  
  • Highly collaborative with outstanding relationship building skills. 
  • Highly self-motivated and able to independently and effectively drive for results.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency and aggressive timelines.
  • Demonstrates a creative and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong ability to influence cross-functionally within the organization without direct authority.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this job. Laboratory Activities (if applicable): Biology and chemical laboratory environment experience needed. Environmental health and safety requirements also apply.

Travel:

You may be required to travel for up to 5% of your time.

The Anticipated Base Salary Range: 

In addition to your base pay, our total rewards program consists of a discretionary annual target bonus, stock options, ESPP, and 401k match. We also provide top-notch health insurance plans for employees (and their families) to include medical, dental, vision and basic life insurance, 20 days of PTO, 10 paid holidays, and a winter company shutdown.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education. Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states. Salary Range

The salary range for this position is: $233000 - $285000.
