The Role

The Global Payroll Leader will play a crucial role in facilitating a robust structure to deliver accurate, timely, and innovative global payroll services across the Aristocrat Group, ensuring a superior service experience for employees. This leader will oversee the payroll teams across multiple regions, including North America, Canada, LATAM, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, as well as support payroll operations for the EMEA region.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that payroll is delivered effectively and in compliance with local statutory requirements. You will monitor, train, and assist teams in global payroll transformation projects, provide insightful guidance to various stakeholders, manage payroll risks, and future-proof payroll delivery to meet the organization's evolving needs. Building and maintaining strong, constructive relationships with all stakeholders—payroll staff, payroll providers, P&C, and other internal and external customers—will drive a unified and efficient payroll function. The role requires a focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and leadership in managing global payroll services while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance across diverse regions.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the full cycle of domestic and international payroll processing for US and global subsidiaries, including data collection, gross-to-net calculations, reconciliations, and compliance with international, federal, state, and local laws. Provide strategic guidance to ensure payroll processes are optimized for scalability across various regions.

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing payroll team, fostering a positive, collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence. Ensure team members serve as subject matter experts and primary points of contact for payroll inquiries.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as P&C leaders, Accounting, Finance, Audit, and other departments to ensure alignment of payroll with broader organizational goals. Engage with stakeholders across different time zones to ensure effective communication and execution of business objectives.

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to scale and optimize global payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing in all regions. Design and implement internal controls and workflows to guarantee compliance with payroll, tax, and benefits regulations.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with international, federal, state, and local payroll laws, including tax and benefits requirements. Stay updated on wage laws and regulations to ensure systems reflect current standards.

  • Lead the design and deployment of global payroll systems, working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate with existing HR and finance platforms while ensuring compliance with data security regulations like GDPR.

  • Manage complex payroll-related queries and ensure timely resolution of any issues or complaints, with a focus on maintaining high service quality and meeting internal SLAs and KPIs.

  • Oversee payroll financial activities, supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes as well as external audits. Ensure accurate and timely filings for all jurisdictions.

  • Focus on continuous improvement, ensuring efficient payroll processes and an exceptional employee experience. Lead special projects such as M&A payroll integration, system implementations, and entity setups.

  • Lead, coach, and mentor the payroll shared services team, focusing on continuous professional growth and maintaining high performance.

  • Create a positive, collaborative team environment that drives operational excellence across all payroll functions.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in business, accounting, finance, or a related field, with equivalent experience. Any management-related studies would be an advantage.

  • 8-10+ years of payroll management experience.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll-related federal, state, and international regulations and payroll requirements. Membership with a recognized payroll association is preferred.

  • Strong technical and hands-on experience with payroll, including ADP Workforce Now, ADP Celergo, and Workday.

  • Detailed understanding of the importance of a robust control environment.

  • Demonstrates a strong process orientation and project management skill set.

  • Experience managing a multisite global payroll team. Displays strong leadership and willing to be a leader with presence and impact. Able and willing to be in the Summerlin office ~3 days a week.

  • A self-starter with high initiative to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and find solutions.

  • Led multiple payroll transformation projects, including acquisition onboarding.

  • Experience with both in-house and outsourced payroll systems.

  • Managed expatriate payrolls across various jurisdictions.

  • Led change projects and played a key role in payroll, finance, and HR system implementations.

  • Worked closely with P&C teams to drive employee-focused outcomes.

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to present and influence across all levels of staff and management.

  • Extensive experience using multiple payroll systems.

  • Deep knowledge of human resources systems, including integration with payroll platforms.

  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and act as a change agent.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner.
