Director, Global Oncology Data Strategy
Location: Barcelona - Spain (3 days working from the office and 2 days working from home)
The Centre for Oncology Data Excellence [CODE] is a team within Global Medical Evidence Generation organization that is focused on delivering best in class scientifically rigorous research to support the Global Medical Affairs (GMA).
Oncology Data Strategy[ODS] is a key role reporting to the Head, CODE responsible for setting the data strategy for oncology assets/tumor area in collaboration with Global and US Medical Affairs to execute on real world evidence studies. In this highly visible role, Director, Oncology Data Strategy will partner with stakeholders across Medical and Commercial (Global and US) the organization to understand priorities and drive execution of obtaining data assets that are appropriate for the regions and stakeholders.
Typical Accountabilities
Responsible for design, development and execution of the global across-tumor types and asset data strategy & plans, and the development of annual data strategies for key markets including the US, EUCAN and Rest of World.
Closely collaborates with the Head, Oncology Outcomes Research and Tumor leads to identify and evaluate data assets and develop an annual data strategic plan for key regions in partnership w/ key stakeholders.
Responsible for data landscape assessment, staying up to date on available data sources and data partnerships and becoming the go to person for Oncology Outcomes Research in evaluating data options for research
Point person for strategically evaluating new data sources and partnerships with data vendors, coordinating and leading vendor meetings for data evaluations
Responsible for execution of contracts for obtaining data assets funded by GMA and collaboration and negotiating with stakeholders across ORD and OBU
Lead cross-functional meeting for data strategy and evaluate real world data needs across AstraZeneca Oncology Business Unit.
Liaise with markets, O2R regularly to discuss future evidence generation, market needs and assess its impact on data strategy and plans
Responsible for leading the rapid analytics program to support asset/tumor specific strategic decisions for medical affairs
Represent CODE by being a subject matter expert for Global Medical Affairs for enterprise wide data initiatives in partnership with other functions or business units in AstraZeneca
Serve as a key member of the CODE Leadership Team helping elevate team performance
Proactively think about AI solutions that can be employed in real world data assets for faster or efficient real world evidence generation
Ensure that all activities related to data acquisition, access and use are carried out in compliance with AZ standards, standard operating procedures and external regulations
Essential Skills
Technical Skills
Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry with MS degree or doctoral degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) in outcomes research epidemiology, or related disciplines.
Demonstrated expertise in analytical, judgment and problem-solving skills.
Significant experience and demonstrated ability to navigate multiple types of datasets to understand pros and cons and best uses of each. Hands on experience with multiple large and diverse datasets globally from EMR, claims and survey data.
Strong research skills and ability to independently evaluate highly diverse data sources in multiple geographies
Expertise in healthcare industry and clinical knowledge in oncology therapeutic area ,
Understanding of application of healthcare data in reimbursement and access to medicines
Solid experience in conducting outcomes research studies applying health economics, , retrospective data analyses, epidemiology and/or health services research preferred.
Experience managing stakeholder relationships
Scientific and business expertise in oncology with a strong understanding of key global and regional issues and concerns.
Leadership Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to meet the needs of scientific, commercial, internal and external partners.
Ability to lead cross functional working groups and teams within a complex matrix organisation.
Experience leading, promoting, motivating and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organisational objectives.
