Our global client management team is a group of highly skilled client management professionals responsible for managing the relationships with some of our most prestigious global commercial services clients. We are looking for an exceptional leader to join our team in APAC. 

The Global New Business Development Director Japan will be responsible on acquiring new-to-franchise T&E and supplier payment business across the largest and most strategic corporations in Japan 

Responsibilities
  • Acquire & drive new sales from  global & multi-national corporations as new prospective customers into the commercial payments business at American Express
  • Build the winning contact strategy in the market industry and at prospect level to ensure proper support and C level relationship endorsement.
  • Lead strategic selling in alignment with compliance and internal partner business requirements.
  • Build winning strategies, develop and execute a growth strategy, adapting plans and priorities to address resource/operational requirements.
  • Achieve Sales growth Targets (Charge Volume and Booked Charge Volume)
  • Sell core and supplier payments American Express solutions
  • Spend significant time identifying opportunities, ensuring set-up/ card issuing, and managing expansion signings through the tracking period of Booked Charge Volume
  • Make decisions and resolve issues based upon policies, procedures, and business plan.
  • Partner with peers and senior leaders across GCS organization to drive engagement, retention, and long-term profitability.

Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge and experience selling in the corporate payments industry including T/E and supplier payments solutions in Japan and globally
  • Hunter mentality & self starter
  • Proven track record in sales negotiations, leadership and closing skills in the strategic sales for banking, financial services. payments or travel Industry environment.
  • 15+ Years of business development experience in a sales environment with a proven track record of driving results. 
  • Networked in the payments industry across multiple industry groups including travel and procurement especially in Japan
  • Thorough knowledge of successful consultative selling techniques within Procurement, Treasury and Finance.  
  • Extensive experience with complex sales planning and execution.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Leverages lead sources to identify opportunities and proactively schedule warm account review appointments with prospects
  • Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to gain acceptance for products and/or services
  • Exceptional thought leadership, strategic thinking skills and project management aptitude.
  • Outstanding presentation and negotiation skills and ability to interface and influence at the most senior levels.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills
  • Strong command over business Japanese and English and experience of having worked within matrix structures in multi-national organizations
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
