Position Overview:

We seek a dynamic leader to enhance our media procurement for Europe's Operating Unit (OU) within Global Marketing Procurement (GMP). The Director for Media Europe oversees strategic sourcing for European projects, collaborating with the European marketing organization, OU Integrated Marketing Experience (IMX), legal, commercial, and finance teams, as well as the GMP Media Tower. The role focuses on sourcing 'fit for purpose' media inventory, expertise, partnerships, and evaluation to support business strategy and targets, leveraging exceptional negotiation, contract management, and agency relationships to drive value and ROI. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Marketing Procurement Media, this role handles $500m+ in annual direct marketing spend and is a key partner to the European marketing community.

Please note: This is not a remote role and will require the successful applicant to be based in either our London or Dublin office and follow a hybrid work schedule. This is an Individual Contributor role.

What You’ll Do for Us:

  • Lead the negotiation of commercial terms for the $500m+ media spend in Europe. Provide media services expertise to leverage spend, increase value, and decrease total costs.
  • Ensure agency performance through management routines and third-party validation of media plan delivery. Collaborate with the IMX team to assess measurement criteria for media inventory and campaign effectiveness (e.g., cost, reach, ROI, viewability, brand safety, attention levels).
  • Develop and lead innovative sourcing approaches, using analytics to determine scenarios, benefits, risks, and change management impacts. Maintain relationships with senior management within the OU to support and enhance Europe’s marketing strategies.
  • Align with stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Contribute to best-in-class remuneration and ROI models alongside the Global Media Tower.
  • Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify and mitigate supply risks, ensure supply continuity, and capitalize on emerging opportunities. Evaluate agency competencies and competitive positioning using industry research and cost models.
  • Build a central best practice information suite, benchmarking, and cost modeling approach while supporting continuous learning. Manage and protect files and sensitive information according to retention requirements.
  • Achieve company targets on savings, cash flow, sustainability, and people performance.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 10+ years of total business experience alongside specific and deep knowledge of the media marketplace in but not limited to the Europe market is strongly preferred 
  • knowledge of media agencies, digital media platforms, ecommerce, retailer media, 3rd party data, media benchmarking, digital supply chain and all other associated needs and services pertaining to the effective and responsible planning and buying of media
  • Ability to interpret, understand and develop contractual language. Ability to explain to clients the obligations owed and benefits due the Company under its contractual relationships such that clients understand and appreciate the implications that such relationships may have on the Company's strategic decisions and conduct. 
  • Knowledge of the external environment in which the Company's business is conducted. Includes ability to offer a broad perspective that extends beyond a particular functional discipline (e.g., marketing, finance) and draw upon knowledge that comes from frequent interaction with different departments, employees and sources and constituencies outside of the Company. 
  • Ability to work as part of a virtual global team to collaborate across geographic and organizational boundaries to deliver better business results and share best practices  
  • Knowledge of sources for competitive analysis including supplier and industry data to build competitive intelligence, inform business planning and optimize decision-making. Includes the ability to create and analyze industry cost models order to assess suppliers' competitive capabilities.
