Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $112,000.00 - $170,875.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.What you will be doing

Reports to Chief Academic Officer 

Summary: Administrative leadership role responsible for strategic oversight of Global Education and Global Impact programing at HSS.  This position will be responsible for leading three distinct teams that oversee HSS’s Global Education and Impact network.  These include humanitarian work, enduring academic partnerships, and long-term strategic partnerships.  This leader will manage the teams responsible for administering programs, expanding HSS’s international reach and sustaining relationships. This leader will work closely with medical leadership and the development team to secure funding for global initiative and will create a regular reporting cadence to inform internal and external stakeholders of global health initiatives and impact.  

Humanitarian Initiatives Administrative Oversight: Create and support the Global Health Humanitarian Committee which will establish processes for awarding the limited resources allocated to humanitarian programing and for ensuring programs meet HSS’s standards and goals. 

Specific Responsibilities: The Global Health Humanitarian Committee will oversee the disbursement of a set amount of funding (determined by philanthropic initiatives and financial need). The Committee creates and oversees an application process and sets standards, guidelines, and transparent selection criteria for funds disbursement.  

Enduring Academic Partnerships Administrative Oversight: HSS is a standard-bearer internationally and engages in mutually beneficial academic partnerships. Through these partnerships HSS offers training programs, rotational programs, fellowships, didactic series and curricula, and other academic pursuits. This leadership role will have administrative responsibility of these programs and the team that manages them.   

Specific Responsibilities: The Academic Partnerships team maintains relationships with international organizations and establishes new partnerships as opportunities arise. The [Administrative Lead] is responsible for an annual report and budget to submit to oversight bodies, including the Medical Board. The [Administrative Lead] evaluates programs makes recommendations on whether to continue partnerships long-term.  

Long-Term Strategic International Partnership Oversight: Foreign organizations seek HSS’s expertise in developing their musculoskeletal programs. HSS may partner with these organizations in various ways: as a consultant, co-developer, or joint owner.  

Specific Responsibilities: Partner with the medical and business leadership teams at HSS to pursue international partnerships in accordance with institutional goals.   In coordination with medical leadership and the Strategy & Business Development team, the [Administrative Lead] is responsible for evaluating opportunities and ensuring alignment with HSS’s capabilities and resources.  

Core Responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership: Designing and implementing long-term development plans that align with the institution’s mission and financial goals. 

Program Standards: Establishes the application process and criteria set for humanitarian initiatives. Critically evaluates business plans and budgets to make recommendations to the Global Health Humanitarian Committee.  

Oversight Structure: Staffs various oversight committees with appropriate physicians and administrators.  

Philanthropy: Partners with Development to establish annual funding for humanitarian work. Supports grant writing to fund specific initiatives as needed.  

Financial Oversight: Ensures philanthropic funds are appropriately allocated and budgets are followed. Evaluates the return on investment of global health initiatives.  

Program Support: Creates central resources for logistical support for funded opportunities (e.g., physician licensing requirements).  

Reports: Develops annual reports for various stakeholder groups detailing the work and impact of global health programs, including financial reporting.  

Team Management: Manages a team of program administrators, relationship managers, and others to successfully implement and sustain programs.  

Cross-Functional Alignment: Works closely with Academics, Medical Staff, Strategy & Business Development, Innovation, and other departments to evaluate and operationalize programs.  

Requirements 

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred 

Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in nonprofits or foundations, global health, development, and/or grant writing 

Skills 

Strong interpersonal and public speaking abilities 

Strong written communication skills   

Experience in grant writing  

Financial stewardship, including budget development 

Strategic thinking and the ability to evaluate initiatives against institutional goals  

Ability to manage competing deadlines  

Experience managing teams  

Other: Ability to travel
