Director, Funds Solutions (Client Services and Commercial)
Location: Jersey, Channel Islands
Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Jersey-based) with regular travel to the UK (expected to be at least 50% of the role)
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Funds, Jersey, the Director is accountable for the oversight of a portfolio of fund and related structures, ensuring high-quality client service, strong corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This role includes acting as a Jersey resident director on client entities (where approved and appointed), providing independent oversight and fulfilling fiduciary, legal, and regulatory duties.
A core component of the position is commercial leadership: the Director will help drive the strategic growth of CSC’s Funds business in Jersey by building and deepening relationships with private capital sponsors, investment managers, intermediaries, and professional advisers, and by partnering closely with CSC sales teams on market engagement, client acquisition, and expansion of existing client relationships; this is expected to comprise at least 50% of the role and will include regular UK travel.
This role falls within the scope of the Jersey Financial Service Commission’s (“JFSC”) definition of “Senior Management Function” Category 3. Category 3 Senior Management Function is defined by the JFSC as:
‘The function of carrying out a duty or responsibility (alone or jointly with others) that the Money Laundering (Jersey) Order 2008 or an AML/CFT/CPF Code of Practice issued by the JFSC requires to be performed by senior management’.
This means you could be liable to a Jersey civil penalty if you were found to be culpable in a significant and material contravention by CSC Fiduciary Services (Jersey) Limited of the Money Laundering (Jersey) Order or the mandatory requirements set out in the Codes of Practice in the AML/CFT/CPF Handbook.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the delivery of fund administration, governance, and related services for a portfolio of fund and associated client structures, ensuring consistent quality and timeliness.
- Act as a director on client boards (where approved and appointed), discharging fiduciary, statutory, and regulatory obligations and exercising appropriate independent oversight and challenge.
- Lead and support effective corporate governance, including preparation for and participation in board meetings, review of materials, and oversight of key decisions and ongoing governance actions.
- Maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients, investment managers, intermediaries, and professional advisers, ensuring responsive service and long-term partnership.
- Ensure adherence to Jersey regulatory requirements, including AML/CFT/CPF expectations and applicable Codes of Practice, working closely with internal risk, compliance, and operational teams.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to team members, promoting a high-performance and accountability-focused culture.
- Drive commercial growth by developing and strengthening relationships across the market (Jersey and the UK), partnering with CSC sales teams and representing CSC externally.
- Contribute to revenue growth through business development activity, client acquisition, and expansion of existing client relationships, with market engagement expected to comprise at least 50% of the role.
Required Qualifications:
- JFSC Category A employee holding a Table 4 qualification, or regulator-approved person status in relevant jurisdictions and/or for the relevant CSC service line (or able to meet the applicable requirements).
- Significant experience in fund administration, private capital, or financial services, with demonstrable portfolio oversight and client service accountability.
- Strong working knowledge of Jersey regulatory requirements, corporate governance standards, and AML/CFT/CPF obligations relevant to funds and associated structures.
- Proven ability to build and manage senior client and stakeholder relationships, including working effectively with investment managers, intermediaries, and internal partners.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including experience mentoring and developing colleagues and leading through a high-performance culture.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to the UK as part of business development and client coverage (expected to be at least 50% of the role).
- Track record of growing a funds business organically through business development, market engagement, and excellent client care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous board experience (fund and/or related structures), including evidence of effective independent challenge and governance oversight.
- Approved Person status (or ability to obtain such approval) for relevant client directorships and/or regulated responsibilities.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., governance, accountancy, legal, compliance, or funds-related credential) supporting the role’s fiduciary and oversight requirements.
