The Role
We are looking for a Director, Engineering – Personal Card Technology who brings expertise leading engineering teams that build high performance systems and customer facing digital applications. In Wealth Cash Solutions - Personal Cards, we are embarking on a multi-year journey to improve our debit and credit card programs – including enhancing our ability to service customers over our live channels, improving the digital experiences (web and mobile), and optimizing our vendor partnership structure. Progressive Engineering Leadership:
Provide Engineering expertise, thought leadership and partnerships across Product Management, Engineering and Human-Centric Design teams
Provide technical and functional oversight with product management teams to ensure we are building the best products, platforms, and experiences for our customers.
Work collaboratively with your product partners to create and execute the teams backlog
Collaborate with architecture and Platform Engineering teams on setting technical direction and ensure alignment with our technology strategy.
Ensure engineered solutions address scale, reuse, and high availability requirements by using platforms and established patterns and practices.
Accelerate and increase efficiency by continuously improving engineering and operations practices.
Engage as an authority on technology, staying abreast of and contributing to external industry trends, advancements, and innovations in technical areas of expertise.
Engaging Engineering Leadership:
Create and promote the vision, roadmap, and expectations for your engineering teams to achieve engineering excellence in all results.
Define and implement a plan to attract, hire, build and retain the optimal skills for your Teams.
Facilitate learning at scale to promote skill, career, and development growth for technologists on the team
Maintain and share knowledge and expertise on the evolving needs of customers, internal and external markets, and industry trends and changes across our community.
Lead team members through a high degree of organizational complexity in support of cross-domain and cross-product area work.
As the direct reporting manager for technologists, you will be responsible for engineering delivery, people management and maintaining engineering standards

The Skills and Expertise You Bring
10 years of functional experience in product management and/or technology, with a high level of agile, analytical, and coaching skills.
Proven experience working hands-on on software engineering problems - Development of APIs, Consumer facing applications, scaling cloud-based solutions, etc.
Experience in application architecture design and development on Cloud based infrastructure (AWS / Azure) using various architecture patterns (e.g., Distributed, Serverless, Event Driven, Microservices etc.) and can articulate the right paradigm for the problem at hand,
Experience delivering highly secure, scalable, and resilient consumer facing native mobile applications.
Experience working with DevOps metrics and should demonstrate awareness of managing, improving, and advocating for these metrics to drive Engineering Excellence
Experience partnering with Product and Business teams to break down strategy into practical mission, goals, and priorities.
Track record of inspiring the creativity and innovation of teams, creating a culture of inclusion, experimentation, exploration, and continuous learning.
Ability to collaborate across business units, with peers and leadership to ensure objectives, KPI's and standards are aligned.
Ability to attract, hire and build a pool of diverse, engaged engineers with the skills needed today and in the future.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.
