The Role:
The Director of Firm Operations (DFO) is the linchpin of the firm's daily functionality and strategic execution. This role is not merely operational; it is foundational to the firm's ability to achieve its growth objectives and maintain its competitive edge. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, the DFO assumes the critical role of Integrator within the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework, ensuring that the firm's vision is translated into tangible results.

While initially operating as a 'team of one,' the DFO's capacity to cultivate a high-performing operational team is a critical driver of the firm's scalability and long-term prosperity. This role serves as the central conduit for people operations and the employee experience, fostering a cohesive and productive work environment. The DFO's oversight of office and facility operations, including the supervision of administration, HR, and IT, ensures that the firm's infrastructure supports its ambitions.
In essence, the DFO is not just managing operations; they are safeguarding the firm's operational integrity and driving its strategic momentum. This role’s performance is directly correlated with the firm's ability to thrive in a competitive landscape.
This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days/week onsite at our Greentree office.
Essential Responsibilities:
Administrative Operations:

  1. Oversee and supervise of the firm’s administrative team at the top line and the firm’s ongoing organizational development goals.
  2. Standardize office procedures, systems and electronic forms. Recommend system revisions and implement new forms and procedures as necessary in consultation with the EOS team.
  3. Coordinate with department leaders and EOS team in the scheduling process to ensure smooth workflow management, even distribution of work, and appropriate firm headcount across all departments.
  4. Run weekly EOS L-10 meetings according to strategic framework in the Integrator role.
  5. Develop standard operating procedures, workflows, decision trees and best practice expectations for both billable professionals and administrative staff to ensure consistency and efficiency across the firm and to ensure a high level of client service.
  6. Review process for selecting vendors and ensure H2R receives optimal outcomes for vendor spend.
  7. Identify and mitigate potential operational risks within the firm.
Human Resources:
  1. Administer day to day technical HR programs, including performance management, employee engagement activities,  pulse surveys, and new hire onboarding.
  2. Administer Career Development Plans for professional employees, in partnership with their respective department leaders.
  3. Advise on and supervise the strategic people initiatives of the firm, including talent strategy philosophy, retention initiatives and training and development. Particularly, have an active role in the strategy of recruitment of new firm talent and tactics to attract accounting talent. 
  4. Develop and implement a firm development action plan to ensure all firm culture programs that are established take shape as intended.
  5. Serve as the go-to resource for non-technical questions by the staff, including general firm policies and best practices.
  6. Monitor HR functions and serve as primary collaborator and influencer to HR consulting partner to achieve firm people priorities.
Information Technology:
  1. Manage the internal Software Experience Lead and the outsourced IT vendor.
  2. Lead the Strategic IT committee to foster and develop ideas from the client service professionals through implementation.
  3. Proactively research, evaluate, and project manage all company software and all new software applications, implementations, migrations or updates, including AI.
  4. In partnership with internal and external IT resources, regularly review and implement IT compliance and cyber security policies and best practices.
  5. Build out the functionality of time and billing system to ensure it is a single source of truth and is being utilized optimally across the firm.
Education/Experience Requirements:
  1. Minimum 12 years of relevant work experience, with roles of progressive responsibility required.
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in a role leading direct reports or influencing senior leadership required; experience managing managers or other functional leaders highly preferred.
  3. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced education or CPA license preferred.
  4. Minimum of 5 years of prior accounting or professional services experience with roles of progressive responsibility highly preferred.
  5. Past responsibility for utilization and capacity management for consulting resources highly preferred.
  6. Experience managing workflows and reporting in CCH® or similar time and billing software highly preferred.
  7. Demonstrated past experience operating in a player/coach role as it pertains to developing strategy and then carrying out the tactical execution required.
The compensation range for this role is $160,000-$180,000, depending on background, skills, and experience.
