Ankura’s Financial Services Advisory Practice is seeking highly motivated Directors to join our dynamic and growing team. We serve the largest clients in the financial services industry including banking, capital markets, insurance, asset management, and fintech.  We solve our client’s toughest challenges with innovative solutions in Business Strategy and Transformation, M&A Advisory and Integration, Risk, Control and Compliance, and Data and Technology.

We rely on Directors to play a critical role in delivering impactful solutions to our diverse client base. Our team works in an apprentice model; you will work with experienced senior leaders to develop your industry knowledge and consulting skills to contribute to and shape our project delivery, business development, and practice development efforts.

The role is structured as a hybrid position, allowing for a combination of remote work and on-site duties to balance flexibility with team interaction. When in office, the preferred locations are New York, Washington, DC, and Boston.

Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Lead and participate in engagements of all sizes, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines and budgets.

  • Develop practical and innovative solutions to address client needs.

  • Prepare clear and crisp work-product and present insightful and concise findings and recommendations to client stakeholders.

  • Conduct rigorous data analysis, synthesizing data and generating creative hypotheses.

  • Contribute to the development of project plans, methodologies, and deliverables.

  • Oversee the work of junior team members, providing guidance, mentorship, quality assurance and constructive feedback.

  • Interact directly with clients, developing strong working relationships with client stakeholders at various levels.

Business Development

  • Contribute to the development of proposals, presentations, and other business development materials.

  • Contribute to the development of thought leadership and intellectual property and provide support for industry/networking events.

Practice Development

  • Mentor, coach, and develop colleagues

  • Contribute to the internal development of the Financial Services Advisory Practice through knowledge sharing, methodology development, and training initiatives that also foster personal growth.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies within the financial services sector.

  • Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

Preferred Experience

  • 4 - 7 years of consulting experience and/or on point industry experience

  • Demonstrable experience in one or more of the following financial services sectors: banking, capital markets, life / property & casualty / specialty insurance, annuities, retirement, asset management, or fintech.

  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality results on complex projects.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, understand anomalies, and develop actionable insights.  

  • Business and data analysis experience applicable to a client’s strategic initiatives (e.g., growing revenue, decrease costs, mitigate risk)

  • Experience in envisioning future state operating models and when comparing to the current state and designing the roadmap of initiatives to close the gap between the current and target future state.

  • Experience in methods and tools for process improvement/efficiency, control enhancement, requirements for enabling technology and data, designing the organization of the future.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare effective and concise work-product and present effectively to senior audiences and influence decision-making.

  • Strong interpersonal and client management skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Experience with relevant data analysis tools and techniques is a plus (e.g., SQL, Python, Tableau).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

  • Strong aptitude in program/project management and change management.

  • Excited about growing your professional network and supporting business development activities.

Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.

  • Demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism, ethics, quality, and integrity.

  • Dedication to taking personal ownership of work product and consistently meeting internal and external client deadlines and high-performance expectations.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, or New York, Ankura is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the said markets and considers a broad range of factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  The range does not include additional benefits outside of salary. At Ankura, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each role. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range is between $85,000 to $200,000; this range is not a promise of a particular wage.
