We’re actively seeking a talented Investment Reporting Director to join our Accounting & Reporting team in Newport Beach, CA or Charlotte, NC.
As an Investment Reporting Director you will play a critical role in Pacific Life’s financial and management reporting processes. This position is responsible for leading investment-related financial reporting, analytics, and executive reporting activities, including the quarterly divisional investment analysis, Board Investment & Finance Committee reporting, and other key internal and external reporting deliverables.
You will lead a team of professionals while providing oversight and review of work across the broader Investment Reporting team. The role serves as a key partner to Pacific Life Investments, Financial Reporting, and Division Finance teams.
This role offers the opportunity to influence critical business decisions, drive process improvements, and lead initiatives to enhance reporting quality, efficiency, and scalability.
How you'll help us move forward:
Lead and develop a team of 2-3 professionals responsible for investment and financial reporting activities
Oversee the preparation, review, and delivery of quarterly divisional investment results packages, including analysis of key drivers and quarter-over-quarter trends for Corporate and Reinsurance divisions
Direct the preparation and review of investment-related GAAP financial statement disclosures and cash flow reporting to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with reporting requirements
Lead the review of the Board Investment & Finance committee materials
Review and provide oversight of investment reporting deliverables prepared by team members and other contributors across the department
Oversee the preparation and submission of investment-related rating agency surveys, regulatory reporting, and other external reporting requirements
Provide leadership and guidance on complex financial reporting, analytical, and accounting-related matters affecting investment reporting
Coordinate and support internal audits, external audits, ICFR activities, and other governance-related initiatives
Be innovative in leading improvements to investment accounting and reporting processes
Maintain proper controls over reporting and understanding the right level of control consciousness; assist with special projects as needed
Build solid relationships with peers and key business unit personnel and others to expand and enrich knowledge and gain a greater perspective of their business needs
The experience you bring:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
10+ years of relevant finance/accounting experience
CPA preferred
Prior leadership experience in an accounting/reporting role a plus
Proven organizational skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines
Ability to coordinate complex deliverables across multiple systems with minimal direction
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to collaborate with others to effectively problem solve
What makes you stand out:
Experience in the life insurance industry and/or financial services preferred
Familiarity or working knowledge of a broad spectrum of investment types including fixed income, mortgage loans, private equity and derivatives
EPM experience – Essbase, Smartview, OBIEE
Experience use business objects and ePam preferred
Advanced computer skills and strong command of Excel and Power Point
Ability to innovate and leverage technology for efficiencies and enhanced analytics

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
