Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director of Financial Aid responsible for the strategic leadership and administration of Grand View’s financial aid programs. The Director will ensure the timely awarding of aid, accurate reporting and compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations and policies while ensuring a high level of customer service to our students and families.  This full-time position will lead a team of 4 staff members as well as collaborate with university faculty and staff to optimize enrollment and retention through financial aid strategies. 


Essential Functions of Position: 

  • Provide leadership, management and support for the Financial Aid Office team and develop competent, productive and effective staff.
  • Provide leadership and develop appropriate recommendations for use off the Colleague SIS Financial Aid module and serve as a member of the Core systems team.
  • Partner with other senior leaders in establishing and delivering achievable goals that positively impact enrollment, retention and net tuition revenue.
  • Develop and administer the University institutional aid models and policies so that recruitment and retention goals are met and in line with establish budget and net tuition revenue targets.
  • Develop and manage the Financial Aid departmental budget.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the financial aid team, in the administration of financial aid in a customer-focused environment.
  • Administer and maintain compliance with federal, state, and institutional aid programs according to guidelines established by the Department of Education, the Iowa College Student Aid Commission, and institutional policies and guidelines.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of required reports on financial aid, including the annual fiscal operations report to the Department of Education.
  • Manage the Tuition Exchange, ELCA, and Council of Independent Colleges tuition exchange programs.
  • Review and interpret notices from the Department of Education regarding program changes. Develop policies and procedures for the implementation and administration of these changes.
  • In coordination with the Admissions Office, GV Complete Program and Viking Central, counsel students and parents regarding the eligibility and availability of financial assistance.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • BA/BS Degree.  Master’s degree Preferred.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in financial aid administration. 
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships and fostering collaboration across divisions and departments.
  • Ability to think strategically about college affordability and impact of institutional aid regarding discount rate and net tuition revenue.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with stakeholders, students, senior leaders, and community members.
  • Possess the experience, leadership, and vision to plan, organize, manage, and direct the Financial Aid office.
  • Extensive knowledge of both federal and state financial aid policies and regulations.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Regular attendance is required.  
  • Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Requires extensive computer usage.
  • Required manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Requires sufficient range of hearing and vision in an office setting with little exposure to excessive noise, dust temperature.  
  • Additional hours may be required during peak times.
