The role:
The Finance Director is responsible for the financial and fiscal management of company operations and provides leadership and coordination in the business planning, accounting and budgeting activities of the company.
Responsibilities
- Direct all aspects of the finance and accounting functions of the organization including the audit system
- Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization
- Ensure credibility of the finance department by providing timely and accurate information and reports
- Work with senior executives to drive business growth through strategy formulation and planning
- Participate in developing new business including identifying new funding opportunities, drafting budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery approach
- Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities, strategic plans, projects/programs etc
- Oversee the processes for financial forecasting, budgeting, reporting, cash and treasury management
- Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
- Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard assets; ensure effectiveness of controls
Requirements:
- Minimum of a 1st degree in Accounting or Finance. An MBA or a relevant Masters degree is an added advantage
- Professional accounting certification
- Minimum of 12 years experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles
- Experience in utilities management, power or energy management is preferable
- Excellent commercial and business experience
