We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Finance to join Ashby Ponds, continuing care retirement community in Ashburn, VA, home to more than 2,000 residents. As a key member of the community's Executive Leadership Team, this role offers the unique opportunity to shape strategy, drive financial performance, and influence critical business decisions across a large, multifaceted operation. The Director of Finance serves as a trusted advisor to executive and operational leaders, providing financial insight that supports growth, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability.

How you will make an impact

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and oversight for the community
  • Establish and maintain strong accounting controls and efficient financial processes
  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of financial results, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Partner with operations to support business decisions and financial performance
  • Collaborate with internal audit and compliance teams to ensure regulatory alignment
  • Identify and help mitigate business and enterprise risks
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that support effective financial operations
  • Coach, develop, and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of growth and continuous learning

Compensation:  $135,000 -$150,000 per year, plus eligibility for annual bonus

This position is onsite full time and does not offer a hybrid schedule. It is located on a beautiful campus where you will have access to many of the dining venues and other amenities.

What you will need 

  • Minimum of 7 years in a related/similar industry with at least the last 5+ years in a management/supervisory role.
  • CPA is a plus
  • Critical thinking ability required. Must be able to evaluate and solve complex problems and issues

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a related or similar industry
  • At least 5 years of management or supervisory experience
  • Critical thinking ability, including evaluating and solving complex problems and issues
