Who You Are:
As the Director, Federal Solutions Engineering, you are responsible for providing technical and thought leadership with the ability to lead, coach and develop a team of Solutions Engineers giving them the foundation and skills required to assist the sales team in achieving overall sales bookings and revenue targets. You will develop and lead a highly engaged team of Solutions Engineers to design and architect best in class large scale Data Center Solutions.Through your leadership, you enable the team to accelerate revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships, and position QTS as the partner of choice for mission-critical federal infrastructure solutions.
What You Will Do: (Job Responsibilities)
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Solutions Engineers, fostering technical excellence, professional development, and a customer-centric culture.
- Present advanced technical concepts in a clear manner to customers through demonstrations, technical review, and design/proposal presentations. Must be able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with Product, Operations, Security, Delivery, and Finance teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically sound, operationally supportable, financially viable, and aligned with customer requirements.
- Work with operational staff as it relates to initiatives that affect the Sales and Solutions Engineering Team(s).
- Interface with internal teams to build and refine process around design and cost capture to ensure a smooth handoff to the delivery teams
- Provide support by listening to the customer first, establishing strong relationships with both customers and sales teams, demonstrating technical credibility, and making the transformation to a QTS Data Center solutions as seamless as possible.
What You Will Need to Be Successful: (Required Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills)
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience
- Ten or more years of experience in technology and solutions selling preferably in the infrastructure or data center industry. with proven management experience
- 5+ years of experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing Sales, Solutions Engineering or pre-sales technical teams
- Demonstrated experience designing and architecting complex data center, colocation, hybrid infrastructure, or networking solutions
- Proven ability to partner with Sales leadership to influence customer strategy, drive technical wins, and contribute to revenue growth.
- Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government, DoD, Intelligence Community, or civilian agency customers supporting solution development and customer engagements involving federal security, compliance, procurement or government contracting requirements.
- To meet federal customer and security requirements associated with this role, candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to provide documentation verifying citizenship upon request
- Excellent written and presentation communication skills with the capacity to articulate complex technical topics to varying customer audiences (administrators to executives)
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines while supporting multiple projects simultaneously.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
The estimated pay range for this role, if based in Virginia, is:
$170,839.50 - 261,259.15Please note that this information is provided for those hired in Virginia only, and this role is open to candidates outside of Virginia with compensation that aligns with your location. The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
