Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned and pragmatic leader in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to oversee EU and UK regional coverage, operating within the Second Line of Defense (2LoD) based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The role reports to the Head of ERM based in New York and partners closely with global and regional stakeholders across all lines of defense.

The successful candidate will serve as the lead risk representative in Amsterdam, providing subject matter expertise on local and cross-border regulatory expectations, including those from the AFM (Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets), ESMA, and the FCA. The role requires a deep understanding of enterprise and operational risk management frameworks, European regulatory requirements, and the ability to provide effective challenge and oversight in a highly regulated trading environment.

Operating as a senior delegate of the Global Head of ERM, this individual will support the execution of the enterprise risk agenda across the EU and UK. Acting under strategic direction and oversight, they will ensure that regional ERM activities, regulatory engagements, and risk deliverables are aligned with global standards and priorities. The role requires strong judgment, proactive communication, and collaboration, with key decisions and escalations made in consultation with the Global Head of ERM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regional Leadership & Oversight
    • Serve as the 2LoD ERM lead for the EU and UK, ensuring consistent execution of the global ERM framework while adapting to local regulatory expectations and business priorities.
    • Act as the key point of contact for AFM, ESMA, and FCA risk-related engagements and supervisory reviews.
  • ERM Execution & Governance
    • Implement and oversee Tradeweb’s ERM framework across EU/UK entities, including risk identification, assessment, and monitoring activities.
    • Conduct regional enterprise risk assessments aligned with DORA, operational resilience, outsourcing, and governance standards.
    • Support the development and monitoring of risk appetite metrics and regional risk dashboards.
  • Independent Oversight & Challenge
    • Provide independent review and challenge of 1LoD risk management activities, including RCSAs, issue management, and control design effectiveness.
    • Evaluate key enterprise and operational risks such as technology, cyber, outsourcing, conduct, and regulatory change providing insight and recommendations to senior management.
  • Regulatory Alignment & Emerging Risks
    • Lead risk horizon scanning for EU/UK regulatory developments (e.g., DORA, MiFID II, EMIR, MAR) and assess their enterprise risk impact.
    • Maintain strong engagement with Compliance, Legal, and Operational Resilience teams to ensure coordinated risk oversight.
  • Risk Reporting & Committees
    • Prepare and present risk reports, dashboards, and thematic analysis for local and global risk committees and boards.
    • Support the production of global ERM materials, ensuring that EU/UK perspectives are accurately represented.
  • Global Collaboration
    • Work closely with ERM peers in New York and APAC to ensure consistent methodologies and risk taxonomies, facilitating cross-regional visibility of systemic and emerging risks.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience: Minimum 15 years in enterprise or operational risk management, preferably within financial markets, trading venues, or fintech firms operating under EU/UK regulation.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of AFM and DNB expectations for governance, operational resilience, outsourcing, and enterprise risk oversight. Familiarity with FCA and PRA risk frameworks is advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Proven experience in risk frameworks, RCSAs, and risk appetite monitoring. Proficiency in GRC platforms (e.g., Archer) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to influence senior management, provide effective challenge, and represent risk matters with regulators.
  • Education/Certification: Degree in finance, economics, or a related discipline; professional designations such as FRM, CRISC, or IRM are desirable.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical judgment, integrity, communication, and independence consistent with 2LoD expectations.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and enhance enterprise risk management across Tradeweb’s EU and UK entities within a dynamic and regulated environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring local regulatory alignment and embedding enterprise risk principles consistent with global standards while maintaining a strong partnership model across the organization.
