Position SummarySupports the Senior Director, Enterprise Decision Support & COO Administration in developing business cases, conducting data analysis, and supporting strategic planning across academic, clinical, medical school, and administrative domains. Builds financial and operational models, sizes opportunities, and prepares analyses that help senior leaders evaluate options and make informed decisions. Contributes to the consistency, neutrality, and analytical quality of the team's work.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support development of decision-ready business cases, including opportunity sizing, volume and demand forecasting, pro forma financials, ROI/NPV/payback, and break-even analysis
  • Own the analytical mechanics of business cases, including baseline construction, driver-based models, scenario and sensitivity testing, and articulation of key assumptions and their sources
  • Source, validate, and integrate data across WashU enterprise systems (financial, student, clinical, HR, and external benchmark or market data) and reconcile discrepancies before analysis reaches leadership
  • Establish and maintain consistent assumption sets, modeling conventions, templates, and documentation standards across the decision-support portfolio
  • Review and quality-check deliverables for accuracy, methodology, and defensibility
  • Partner with academic, clinical, medical school, and administrative leaders to frame decision questions, define options, and identify the metrics that will determine the answer
  • Translate technical analysis into concise materials and recommendations to support enterprise councils, Cabinet, and Board discussions

  • Seven years of experience in decision support, FP&A, strategy or management consulting, healthcare finance, business intelligence, data analytics, or higher education administration.
  • Experience with market and service-line sizing, capital project business cases, or program economics in a complex matrixed environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MHA, MPP, MPH, MS in a quantitative field, or similar).

Salary Range$96,000.00 - $169,300.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
