Role Summary
T. Rowe Price is seeking a Director of Enterprise Data Engineering who can passionately drive the strategy by employing a data-centric approach to realize maximum business value. He or She will be a leader who has an opportunity to have a positive and significant influence on ground-breaking capabilities and transformative customer experiences. The right candidate for this role is passionate about data and is hyper-focused on delivering exceptional results with great leadership skills. The successful candidate will be a visionary and an inspiring technology leader with a proven track record of driving successful technology transformations and facilitating change within a large-scale, complex environment. The successful candidate will have deep data governance & data product experience. S/he will have proven experience transforming a legacy environment into a modern, scalable environment with efficient, interoperable solutions supported by the latest technologies (i.e., AI/ML, Marketplace, Data Lakehouse, etc.). This leader is expected to demonstrate both technical depth and breadth and be well-versed in all key aspects of technology/data in modern digital enterprises.
The successful candidate must also have strong commercial skills and be knowledgeable about the business environment while demonstrating the ability to translate key business objectives and customer needs into an effective strategy and plans. S/he will have the ability to operate at both a strategic and tactical level while understanding how to effectively delegate as well as roll up her/his sleeves to be hands on when necessary. As well, s/he will have a demonstrated ability to communicate strategic and highly complex technical information to audiences of all levels in a way that establishes credibility, influences, and provides relevant context to inform decision making. Financial services experience is an asset but not essential. Scrum master and/or other certified agile or project delivery capabilities, and certifications and/or a strong working knowledge of established enterprise frameworks are beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Lead and transform business-to-business data solutions for T Rowe Price
- Collaborate across the organization to identify opportunities related to modern data solutions (data supply chain, intrinsic data governance and data distributions) to formulate blueprints with an execution roadmap.
- Proactively own and drive conversations with business and technology partners to understand business processes, derive reference, transactional and analytical data entities of strategic importance to T Rowe Price.
- Lead teams of Managers, Engineers, and Analysts to help establish a modern data solutions landscape for B2B and third-party data
- Design strategies and programs to analyze and distribute data from internal/external sources through a marketplace.
- Apply thought leadership in improving the group function through continuous innovation and MVP executions.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of data products/data sets and associated abilities to ingest and integrate.
- Drive the development and implementation of data design methods, data structures, and modeling standards. Implement industry standard development policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure the build out and maintenance of departmental conceptual and logical data models. Conduct data model assessments for strategic data entities and help data owners to address data gaps.
- Drive the implementation and adoption of standards in collaboration with CDO organization and industry best practices for Data governance frameworks, Master Management and Data marketplace.
- Document decisions that include business needs, point of view, rationale, pros, and cons.
- Apply your expertise to help model structured and unstructured data for applications.
- Lead efforts to define/refine execution standards for all data concerns, mentor teams on standards and review all designs to ensure that project teams are meeting expectations for quality and conformity.
- Regularly interact with leadership on work status, priority setting and resource allocations.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline (or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience) and 12+ years of progressive professional experience in the areas of Data Governance, Data Science, Engineering and/or Analytics.
- 5+ years of progressive people leadership
- Experience building and/or supporting AI-enabled applications and data-driven solutions
- Is grounded in the taxonomy of what is required to successfully implement an Agile technology program or project
- Abreast of many best-of-class technologies
- Provides a clear and concise explanation of business strategy, technical concepts, designs, or implementations to a non-technical audience
- Identifies impacts across teams and coordinates across senior levels to manage dependencies and potentially opposing priorities
- Actively contributes to the application portfolio mind-set: what is out-of-date, build vs. buy, similar capabilities
Preferred:
- Experience running large-scale multi-discipline efforts across people processes and technology with complex financial services organizations.

Base Salary Ranges

$201,000.00 - $342,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers$221,000.00 - $350,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.
$251,000.00 - $350,000.00 for the location of: New York, California
Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
