Position Overview
The Director of Enterprise Applications is responsible for the strategy, performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of Palmer-Donavin’s enterprise application ecosystem. This role oversees the platforms and applications that support critical business operations, with a primary focus on ERP, cloud applications, integrations, automation, and related technologies.
Reporting to the CIO, the Director of Enterprise Applications partners with business and technology leaders to understand organizational needs, translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions, and ensure enterprise applications support the company’s growth and strategic objectives. This position provides leadership across application management, business analysis, release management, vendor management, system performance, security, and cost optimization.
This is a hybrid position based in Columbus, Ohio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, administration, performance, and continuous improvement of Palmer-Donavin’s enterprise application ecosystem, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management and supporting cloud applications.
- Partner with the CIO to develop and execute Palmer-Donavin’s cloud and enterprise applications strategy in alignment with organizational goals and evolving business needs.
- Lead and develop technical teams responsible for enterprise applications, business analysis, system enhancements, integrations, workflows, and automation.
- Partner with functional leaders and users across the organization to understand business processes, identify technology needs, and recommend solutions that improve efficiency and the user experience.
- Monitor application availability, performance, capacity, and usage; proactively identify and resolve system bottlenecks, performance issues, and technology risks.
- Maintain the ERP environment and associated customizations while minimizing technical debt and ensuring platforms remain scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective.
- Lead enterprise application release management, including planning, testing, communication, training coordination, version control, and implementation of software updates and releases.
- Maintain alignment with Microsoft Dynamics 365 release cycles and ensure enterprise platforms remain on supported, secure, and current versions.
- Evaluate cloud applications and technology solutions, identify redundant or underutilized systems, and recommend opportunities to improve functionality and cost efficiency.
- Manage enterprise application vendors and strategic technology partners, including contracts, service levels, development plans, performance expectations, and ongoing vendor relationships.
- Partner with Accounting and IT leadership to manage application-related budgets, technology spending, licensing, subscriptions, and resource allocation.
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to application performance, adoption, user satisfaction, vendor performance, and overall value delivered to the organization.
- Stay current on emerging technologies, platform capabilities, and industry best practices and identify opportunities to introduce new functionality across Palmer-Donavin.
- Partner with Training & Development and functional leaders to support communication, training, and employee readiness for new applications, functionality, and significant system changes.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise applications, ERP systems, business applications, or related technology functions, with demonstrated leadership experience.
- Experience managing enterprise ERP and cloud-based application environments; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of enterprise applications, integrations, automation, business analysis, release management, and application lifecycle management.
- Experience leading technical teams and managing technology vendors, contracts, SLAs, and application-related budgets.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate business needs into scalable, practical technology solutions.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to partner effectively with executives, business leaders, technical teams, and end users.

Skills Required
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise applications, ERP systems, business applications, or related technology functions, with demonstrated leadership experience.
