We are seeking a Director of Engineering to join our leadership team and provide strategic and operational direction across all engineering and maintenance functions of the hotel.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be an integral member of the Hotel Leadership team, contributing to key strategic and operational decisions that support the safety, sustainability, efficiency, and long-term performance of the property.
You will lead a team of Engineering and Maintenance specialists responsible for all aspects of interior and exterior facilities, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, structural systems, landscaping, and public areas. You will oversee life and fire safety systems, energy and environmental initiatives, and asset protection programs to ensure the comfort, safety, and wellbeing of both guests and employees.
This role includes full accountability for engineering operations, preventative maintenance strategy, capital planning, project execution, contractor oversight, procurement decisions, and budget management. You will work closely with ownership representatives, consultants, and contractors on renovation and construction projects, ensuring that all works align with Four Seasons standards and contractual requirements.
You will drive continuous improvement in maintenance practices, asset lifecycle planning, and service reliability, balancing preventative, and reactive maintenance strategies to optimize performance and reduce long-term risk and cost. As a leader of people, you will build, develop, and inspire a high-performing engineering team through strong recruitment, coaching, training, and performance management practices.
Critical to success in this role is the ability to deliver technical excellence while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and service, ensuring engineering operations fully support the guest experience and operational excellence of the hotel.
Our Ideal Director of Engineering Candidate Will Have:
Proven leadership experience in hotel or large-scale building engineering and maintenance operations, with at least five years in senior management capacity.
A professional degree in an Engineering discipline or a recognized technical or trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
Strong project and contractor management experience, ideally including renovation, construction-phase, or major capital works environments, with the ability to collaborate effectively with owners, consultants, and construction partners.
Deep technical knowledge across building systems and infrastructure, combined with strong financial and commercial acumen related to budgeting, capital planning, procurement, and lifecycle asset management.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
You will be a disciplined and solutions-oriented leader with strong project management capability, adaptability, and sound decision-making skills. You bring a high standard of professional integrity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to build trusted relationships across technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
