As Director of Engineering, you will own the delivery and technical direction of a major engineering domain, leading multiple teams and managers while partnering closely with Product and senior leadership. This role blends strong people leadership with deep technical credibility, driving cloud‑native, AI‑enabled enterprise SaaS products at scale.
The Mission: What You'll Be Building
You will lead teams building and evolving QAD’s next‑generation platform across:
Adaptive Applications – the intelligent backbone of the manufacturing enterprise.
Champion AI – agentic AI and data‑driven capabilities that accelerate productivity and decision‑making.
You will translate strategy into execution, ensuring predictable delivery, strong architecture, and engineering excellence.
Your Impact/ What you will be doing:
Engineering Leadership & Delivery: Lead multiple engineering teams through Managers and Senior Managers, ensuring timely, high‑quality delivery of complex SaaS capabilities.
Technical Direction: Guide system design and architectural decisions across cloud‑native, microservices‑based platforms on AWS.
People & Talent Development: Build, coach, and develop Engineering Managers and senior engineers; create strong succession and growth paths.
Agile Execution: Drive Agile and product‑centric delivery models, balancing speed, quality, and sustainability.
Cross‑Functional Partnership: Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and DevOps to align roadmaps, priorities, and outcomes.
Operational Ownership: Own delivery commitments, engineering KPIs, reliability, and continuous improvement within your domain.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience & Leadership
10–12+ years of software engineering experience with 4+ years in engineering leadership roles.
Proven experience leading managers and multiple teams delivering enterprise SaaS products.
Strong background in cloud platforms (AWS), distributed systems, and modern SDLC practices.
Ability to balance hands‑on technical depth with strategic and people leadership.
Core Technical Foundations / What we are looking for
Experience in AI‑driven platforms, FinTech, or high‑growth SaaS environments.
Background in startup or scale‑up environments, building platforms from the ground up.
Exposure to agentic AI, intelligent automation, or advanced analytics platforms.
Strong understanding of modern software engineering principles, system design, and distributed systems.
Hands-on familiarity with cloud-native architectures (preferably AWS), microservices, APIs, and data-driven systems.
Solid grounding in SDLC best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, security, and observability.
Ability to guide architectural decisions, review designs, and ensure long-term scalability and maintainability
