We are currently seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our engineering team in the Thailand region. Reporting directly to the US based CTO, the ideal candidate will be comfortable leading an existing team, hiring great engineering talent as we expand, and partnering with the product organization to build a robust roadmap.

This role is on-site in Bangkok, Thailand. However, RentSpree has a significant engineering presence in both the US and Thailand, and the candidate will be expected to work closely with their peers in both regions.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Effective communication with advanced English skills (Speaking, Writing, and Reading).
• 10+ years experience in managing multiple Software Engineering teams that successfully delivered to customers with Agile principles and 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experienced in people management, both in direct management, and managing other managers.
• Proven experience in building and fostering a positive engineering culture focused on learning, collaboration, and innovation.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the entire Bangkok engineering department, including 3 managers and their respective teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and marketing, to define and execute the product roadmap.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
• Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the team.
• Oversee the maintenance and optimization of existing systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
• Contribute to the strategic planning of the engineering department, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to inform decision-making and technology adoption.
• Motivate and inspire team members to develop and achieve great work.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, provide feedback, mentor and guide career development.
• Develop career development plan, review progress, and continuously evaluate team performance to meet company standards.
• Manage resource allocation and capacity planning for the entire Bangkok engineering team.
• Maintain and improve company core values and culture to provide the best working environment.
• Effectively scale the team by attracting and mentoring extraordinary people at various levels of experience to grow a well-balanced, high-performing team.
