Location: Hyderabad (Hybrid)

About the Role 

Our goal is to become the leader in payments and embedded software for international property, making it faster, simpler, and safer to buy and sell property abroad. 

Our new offering will cater to the different stakeholders involved in the process, from the buyers and sellers themselves to legal service firms and title companies to property management, banks and real estate agents. Underpinning this is the core platform, which is fundamental to the business's infrastructure.  

As we expand into new geographies, the need to remain compliant and adhere to local regulatory standards, whilst maintaining global scalability, becomes increasingly more important. Their core platform will fuel this growth and coupled with our new B2B offering, the buying and selling of international property to be easier than ever.  

What You'll Do 

As a Director of Engineering for the consumer-facing teams, you will lead a 40+ people organization focused on elevating user experience across our Consumer FX products (web and mobile), B2B applications, serving the new use cases of the Property space.  

You will lead a distributed organization spread across India (Mumbai and Hyderabad) and the UK. Managing through a leadership team of senior managers, engineering managers, and staff engineers.  We are on a mission to become the embedded finance solution for high-value international transactions. You will drive the culture of technical excellence and customer-centricity required of us there 

  • Build a consumer-centric culture – embed the end user mindset in every engineering decision. Building a data-driven engineering organization that is striving to continuously improve users’ experience and improve product market fit. 
  • Raise the technical bar – You'll set high standards of technical design and implementation, and ensure our systems are operationally excellent. You’ll plan and prioritize impactful technical investment initiatives for your teams to ensure our products stand the test of time and enable future use cases. 
  • Ship value – You’ll support your teams to deliver a wide range of new features and capabilities for our products, engaging with cross-functional stakeholders, including product managers, sales team, compliance teams, and other engineering managers to bring user-centric, scalable solutions live for all users around the world.  
  • Develop talent – You’ll hire and empower the people in your team to be the best engineers they can be, while maintaining a supportive and engaging team environment. You’ll foster a culture of ownership, autonomy, and impact, where people find pride in shipping high quality code that solves real problems. 

 What You’ll Need  

  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a similar capacity as a Director of Engineering (or equivalent), scaling technology organizations, managing managers, and Staff+ Engineers
  • Team building: A strong track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams, including recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top-tier talent across distributed sites (on-site and remote)
  • Experience in building Consumer-facing products
  • Technical excellence: A deep technical background in modern software architecture, with a history of building scalable, global, customer-facing applications that prioritize user experience.
  • Outcomes Over Outputs: Experience driving cultural change and rapidly improving quality and delivery standards to produce measurable business outcomes, not just feature outputs.
  • Global FinTech/Tech Experience: Previous experience operating within a financial or technology company with a global footprint and stringent compliance standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, highly collaborative environments, partnering seamlessly with Product, Sales, and Marketing teams. 

 Bonus Points 

  • Previous experience of building embedded software products in new categories
  • Previous experience at a B2C/B2B Payments Provider 

Skills Required

  • Proven experience as a Director of Engineering or equivalent
