Director, AI Product
 
We are seeking a proven and visionarDirector of Engineering, AI Products to lead our engineering efforts for emerging AI products. This is a critical leadership role responsible for building the technical foundation for identity and security for AI agents. You will lead a high-performing engineering organization, working closely with product management and business leaders to bring innovative identity solutions to market.

You will be a key player in shaping our company's overall strategy, ensuring our technical solutions deliver significant value to customers building with AI. The ideal candidate has a strong background in software engineering leadership and a deep understanding of identity & security. Your work will directly impact key initiatives such as Auth0 for AI Agents, Auth for MCP, Developer Platform Integrations, and the Partner Portal.

What you will be doing: 

  • Engineering Leadership & Strategy: Define the long-term technical vision and strategy for our AI-focused engineering teams. Drive the architectural and technical decisions necessary to build scalable, secure, and reliable solutions for the AI and agentic ecosystem.
  • Team Management & Development: Lead and mentor a team of talented software engineers. Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure the team has the skills and resources to execute on the product roadmap.

  • Execution & Delivery: Oversee the end-to-end development lifecycle, from system design and coding to deployment and maintenance. Work closely with product managers to translate a compelling roadmap into a detailed and actionable engineering plan.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product management, design, and other engineering teams to gather requirements, prioritize features, and ensure successful product launches. You will serve as the technical authority on how we bring identity solutions to the AI world.

  • Technical Excellence: Drive best practices for code quality, security, and performance. Ensure the team is building robust and maintainable systems.

  • Thought Leadership: Represent the company as a subject matter expert in the intersection of identity, security, and AI, both internally and externally. Stay current with the latest advancements in AI and its implications for security and authentication.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.

  • Extensive experience in software engineering leadership, with at least 2+ years in a Director-level or equivalent role.

  • Proven experience leading and managing multiple engineering teams.

  • Deep understanding of the identity and access management (IAM) space and the challenges of securing modern applications.

  • Familiarity with the AI ecosystem, including AI agents, large language models (LLMs), and how they interact with APIs and data.

  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling complex technical platforms or API products.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between:
$266,000$398,000 USD
