Lyra is transforming access to life-changing mental health care through Lyra Empower, the only fully integrated, AI-powered platform combining the highest-quality care and technology solutions.

About the Role:

As our department scales, we are seeking a Director of Engagement Strategy to lead high-impact initiatives that connect more people to care through thoughtful, data-informed marketing.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Customer Marketing, you will drive strategic member communication programs across our book of business, with special attention paid to our largest, most complex accounts. You will manage a team of 7 Engagement Strategy Managers, acting as a player-coach who elevates the team's focus from execution to high-value strategic consulting and operational excellence.

In this role, you will transform customer engagement by shifting employers from basic benefits promotion to embedding Lyra’s marketing within their broader operational and business goals. You will partner cross-functionally with Customer Success, Operations, Product & Brand Marketing, Analytics, and Finance to build scalable frameworks that meet customer needs, drive Net Revenue Retention (NRR), and help Lyra scale efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Coaching: Manage and mentor a team of 7 marketing professionals. Provide clear guardrails and accountability to help them build data-driven consulting skills and lead high-level account strategy.

  • Strategic Planning & Scale: Own the annual strategy, budget, and quarterly initiatives for your team. Turn individual account successes into repeatable playbooks and scalable marketing frameworks that reverse book-of-business utilization declines and improve overall team performance.

  • Operational Strategy & AI Integration: Establish the team's operational strategy and governance model, driving scale and consistency by building out standardized tools, templates, and leveraging emerging technologies like AI to maximize impact and efficiency.

  • Data-Driven Intervention: Translate data and funnel metrics into clear, customer-facing stories. Proactively identify underperforming accounts and build targeted marketing turnaround plans for your team and Customer Success to implement.

  • Playbook Standardization: Create and maintain a library of scalable marketing playbooks categorized by industry (e.g., Retail, Tech, Healthcare), customer tenure, segment, and product configuration to reduce the team's operational load.

  • Performance Analysis: Regularly analyze and report on what is working to gain customer buy-in for communication programs, tying results directly to business impact and customer health outcomes.

  • Team Resilience & Well-being: Maintain sustainable workloads, protect the team's strategic thinking space, and manage day-to-day operational friction in alignment with our "Mind Yourself" value.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in B2B, B2B2C, or relationship-driven corporate marketing, with at least 5 years successfully managing and developing a team.

  • Digital health, or fast-growing technology company experience preferred

  • Proven track record of developing corporate marketing strategies that drive measurable user outcomes in high-stakes environments.

  • Exceptional ability to translate complex data and metrics into compelling strategic insights for both internal executives and external client benefits leaders.

  • Demonstrated success in customer-facing roles with a strong track record of persuading diverse customer stakeholders to adopt marketing recommendations.

  • Proven experience working cross-functionally to navigate complex initiatives, manage tight timelines, and handle client account escalations.

  • A self-starter who works well independently, managing teams and objectives proactively without hand-holding.

  • Deep empathy for customer needs, a background in healthcare or employee benefits (highly preferred), and a genuine passion for mental health.

  • Familiarity with JIRA, Salesforce, Tableau, Highspot, and/or Confluence is a plus.
