As part of L-Acoustics’ R&D Leadership, the Director of Development, Loudspeakers Systems will lead the development and delivery of products in the Loudspeaker Systems R&D pillar. This role involves managing product development teams, collaborating with stakeholders, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring the successful launch and maintenance of L-Acoustics products. 

More precisely, the Director of Development will be pivotal in driving the design and development of our cutting-edge loudspeaker products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance and aesthetics. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Product Development: 

  • Oversee the development of the L-Acoustics loudspeaker product portfolio, including acoustical, mechanical, and design aspects, ensuring alignment with company strategy. 

  • Ensure product quality, on-time delivery, and performance standards. 

  • Anticipate bottlenecks and risks, suggest trade-offs, and drive resolution forward. 

  • Champion development methodologies best suited for the project. 

  • Foster a spirit of customer-centric development and quick learning. 

 

Product Definition and Innovation: 

  • Lead a culture of continuous improvement, exploring advancements in design and processes to enhance product quality and performance. 

  • Ensure that the aesthetic and functional aspects of the loudspeakers are given equal priority. 

  • Foster a forward-thinking mindset within product teams. 

  • Ensure team ownership and autonomy in solving problems. 

 

Department Management: 

  • Structure and lead various engineering, design, and prototyping teams. 

  • Manage budget and distribution of resources. 

  • Collaborate with team managers to ensure training and professional growth of team members. 

  • Oversee hiring within the department. 

  • Promote a customer-centric mindset within the product development teams. 

  • Foster a culture of innovation within product development teams. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

  • Work with the Director of Technology & Platforms and the Director of Research to build a high-performing R&D group, capable of thinking long-term, establishing a strong technology platform while being quick to bring value to its user-base. 

  • Collaborate with other Directors of Development to co-build solutions combining software, hardware, and technology products. 

  • Develop and communicate a clear and achievable product roadmap, aligning with business goals and responding to market demands, competitive pressures, and technological advancements. 

  • Collaborate with other divisions on key development projects. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience in a similar leadership role within the audio industry for at least 10 years. 

  • Strong understanding of acoustics, mechanics, and industrial design. 

  • Excellent project management and team leadership skills. 

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. 

  • A passion for design and a keen eye for detail.
